So I found this at a yardsale a month ago and it seems to check out. What do you all think it is worth? Im gonna be selling it to fund my move to LA to persue my dreams and wanted to get some expert opinions on it thanks!

Pretty hard to get a price on a one of a kind item. I'm sure some of our proto collectors will have a rough ballpark.

Killer find though, an Earthbound proto in a Zelda 2 cart at a yard sale. Unreal.

I couldn't begin to guess.... but I'm going to try anyway!

After much pondering...

My best guess is.....to wait for someone else who knows better.

Haha. Good luck with the sale!

Nice find... Not sure if you are going to fund a move with the sale. Since no one wants to take a stab at this. If you put a buy it now on it with best offer you will draw in potential buyers. If no real offers come in change it to an auction with $1 start and NR. You will end up with sale and it will more then likely be the most you will turn out of the cart. The final price may be a few grand but buyers are going to want to see the details on the ROM. If this is one of the already published ROMs you may have a real hard time seeing $1000.
Based on your statement you have an idea of what you think the cart will bring in? I'm very interested to hear what you think is realistic. It has the potential to be a cool find if everything holds up to the scrutiny of the internet.

One of these sold on eBay for $1,100 but that was several years ago.

Putting a price check isn't going to get you the answers for a selling point.

Just put it up for sale and gather all your offers up and take the best one. Saying a thousand here or there might not matter if no one wants to buy it for that price.

So your best bet is to start a FO thread here then go eBay(best chance of top dollar)

One of a kind items need an open auction at .99c start.

It will be worth a decent amount, but most likely not a "fund a move across country" a lot.

Really hard to say.

This isn't the only Earthbound prototype out there and the ROM is available but it is Earthbound. If the last one sold for $1,100 I'd imagine it will be close to this but that is only a guess. Could be higher or lower all depends on the Earthbound collector's market.

It's Earthbound. The damn ruler has pulled as high as $800 and the air freshener still commands $200-$300 when new in package. If this didn't pull at least $1k I would be legitimately shocked.

I have been offered a substantial amount more than $1k for mine, but guess it varies from one proto to another. Curious how well it would do at open auction on eBay. Good luck on the sale!

It IS a really good game but I'm shocked that so many people care that much. When did that ruler sell for $800?
I have one of those here somewhere.

3 or 4 years ago? You'd have to search the boards.

I suspect that this one will go to an earthbound collector not to a prototype collector. I could be wrong, but I think it has more appeal as an earthbound collectible being one of five known. As a prototype it has been dumped and shown to be the same as one already publicly distributed.

Huh? What does that have to do with an NES prototype?

Not sure I understand. Like the other Earth Bound NES prototypes, the game boots up as "Earth[new line]Bound." I know that it was called Mother in Japan (I own Mother for the Famicom), but the name was not going to be Mother in the USA.

Names change during localization all the time. It was going to be Earth Bound or EarthBound and the SNES game based on Mother 2 would have been EarthBound 2.

It's precisely this reason that I often incorrectly assume people are talking about the legendary unreleased NES game when they don't specify, like with the guy making a repro who got his thread deleted yesterday.

Search for "NES Earthbound title screen" if you've never seen it. Yes, Nintendo changed the name to "EarthBound Beginnings" when they released it on the Virtual Console but that's just how they distinguished it everywhere else (title screen remained unchanged).

3,333.33 starting price? Why not start it at .99c and let the market decide?  Thats a bit ridiculous.

Don't be surprised if no one bids (or it doesn't get paid for). But you never know!
