Yeah man! Drop by and post a score whenever you get a chance! Play one contest a year, every week, or every other week. Whatever ya want.

Ah crap, I usually score 170-190k and not much higher (193k?), somebody already passed 200k. I guess I may give it a try this week anyway It's been awhile since I've participated in one of these.

Doug's 200k score doesn't count toward the final scores for the week since he's a contest moderator, which means as of now, the highest score so far is only 159k.  Give it a shot and go for that 190k

This one should be fun. I have a tabletop DK Jr...First time playing the NES version, I'm surprised at how much easier it is. Specifically the birds level, they scale up the difficulty one bird at a time here, but on my tabletop its all of the birds and klaptraps from the get-go.

I'll have to get used to the sparks on a loop level which isn't present on my tabletop as well, but it's not too tough at least on the early stages.

I think I forgot to put the disclaimer with my original score, so I made sure to add it with my update.

Ooh, could I hear the story on this cart? Looks spiffy, skinny.

I won it by placing 3rd in tier one of the 2015 summer tourney.

its pretty cool to sa the least. It's an actual dk jr. board that plays and a personal message is programmed into the title screen.

Here is is a link to a video of the 2014 carts.

allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="280" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rth..." width="500">>

In 2015 they were only available for tier one. They are really impressive but also pretty exspensive to make. Maybe with enough donations they will be available at the end of the year.

Those awards are awesome.

Yeah, is it only the winners of tier 1 that get those?

If not I kinda want to play my way into tier 3

Due to the cost of the carts, we have decided that Tier 1 would be the only ones eligible for them in the event we award them.  It was fun to do it for all three tiers the one time, but incredibly draining on the bank account

I've never played this one much, so I'm a n00b at this game too. Those second stage birds are the worst enemies in the game. The stage 4 bird and red snapper combination actually the most annoying enemies in the game.

I got a score of around 30,000 that I'm not even going to bother posting. I want at least 40,000.

My 2014 cart is still in the plastic too, but if the label design is the same, it will show which game you have on the end label. If they made the games in the same order (3rd place - first round game, 2nd place - second round game, 1st place - finals game), then yours should be Rush N Attack.

It took all of about a week before I tore mine out of the plastic

That's why I was disappointed in my score. I was able to score 225k on 1 life during the tournament and the most I could get with the three extra lives this time was only another 9000 points. This game seems to have the same effect on me as Kung Fu where once I lose a life it completely throws me off and ruins the rest of my run. I tried playing Kung Fu one last time Sunday evening and I had 963k and 3 lives going into that fourth floor again and the stupid magician got me all three times in a row.

I played a decent amount of Donkey Kong but never really Donkey Kong Jr. ... how different is this one than the original?

Regardless I plan to get a score in this week!

They're completely different games. I personally prefer Donkey Kong, but this one is a lot of fun too. It also has four stages (instead of three like DK), so it doesn't get as repetitive.

Goddammit, I had a great run, and then blew all my lives on 5.1 for some reason. Complete meltdown

"Donkey Kong Jr." is one of those old school arcade games that will remind you of how challenging platformers used to be, before "Super Mario Bros." came along and made the physics much more forgiving. You'll fall from what seems like a reasonable height and it will kill you. At first I had a rough time even reaching participation score because I kept dying on the second stage.

For anyone playing this on PC on an emulator, I recommend using the keyboard instead of a gamepad because of the precision required. The directional buttons on PC gamepads aren't always the best for this kind of game.

Yeah, I've been practicing on a keyboard at work and doing my real runs at home on my Powerpak. This is definitely a game that works well with a keyboard.

That's no good! Do you not have any way of playing on an emulator ?
