How much $ will you spend trying to bust a Zion rookie card?

I'll probably buy a couple hobby boxes this year. I typically wait for the first product with on-card autos or auto/mems.

Who makes sets with out autos/mems? 
 

Though I'm normally a baseball card collector, I'll be in on a box or two of Panini this year.

I pulled an autographed Jaren Jackson Jr /10 out of an NBA Hoops pack I bought for $1.49 a few months ago, held on to it and hoping his bright future pans out

Upper Deck only owns the Hockey license for cards. Sorry guys!

Their only league license is with the NHL, and also Marvel.

Who does he have a deal with if any exclusivity? If Panini I'll for sure go for a box of Prizm and some retail busters hoping for an auto or silver. Pulled a Doncic silver Prizm this year and it's a beauty. I just wanted to pull him. When I got home and saw that it was a $200 card I was shocked

I won't buy any boxes, but I do group breaks almost daily. Can't wait for Contenders Draft to come out. I bought Lakers about 20 times last year and made a killing with Lonzo & Kuzma.

I'm debating on buying some boxes and sitting on them. It's not often a huge hype guy comes through that causes a craze like he will. If he is as good as thought to be, those boxes will be nuts several years from now.

03-04 sure is but that was a crazy draft class. I haven't looked at old boxes for a year or so.

07-08 is durant rc
08-09 is Westbrook rc
09-10 is curry/harden rc
11-12 is kawhi/thompson/davis/irving rc due to lockout in 10/11
13-14 is Giannis rc

I was at my height in the trading card hobby in the 11/12 season; broke alot of boxes that year and did well considering. I also bought a couple 13/14 boxes last year hoping to hit a Giannis but blanked...

I'm not sure but out of all of those guys, I think Durant was the only one that was though to be a guaranteed stud, so it would have been hard to know in those other years. To me, the hype with Zion seems just like the hype with Lebron. Kobe didn't have this hype but he was never destined to be the 1st pick and though expected to be good, not as good as he was. I remember going to CVS and buying 03-04 Topps Chrome to pull Lebron and I never collected Basketball cards a day in my life. $3 a pack and I watched a guy the other day buy a sealed box for $3,000.

First crack at Zion cards tomorrow. Is anyone buying anything on release day? A couple /5 autos are already on eBay.

I wouldn't sit on rookie cards, better off to cash in on the hype. What if the kid ends up sucking? It happens.

I'm more a 70s/80s/90s collector...of baseball/football/basketball/non-sports. I kid you not, I have over 100K cards all in binders/pages (I do complete sets).

Ugh.   Those years aren't worth the space they take up.   

Which sucks, because I had tens of thousands of those.
