I picked up a factory sealed copy of NBA Elite '11 for PS3 at one of the local flea markets here in town because I knew this game was canceled. From what I found on the internet, a damaged one went for $255 and a new retail copy went for $800 via an ebay auction. These prices were for the game sold before it was officially canceled. What do you all think this is worth?

Well, don't go based off that auction. The high bidder had 4 feedback and is "no longer a registered user". I'm sure you could get a nice price for it, but nothing like that.

I thought this game was never released. Just how many of these were leaked to the public? This could easily be the rarest current generation game, especially if it is already worth $500+.

I'm skeptical of this price but its the only auction I could find. There are a few other posts discussing other auctions on ebay but the most recent post was back in November. With the game automatically being pulled from ebay, its hard to truly determine the market price.

I'm not motivated to move it because there is no doubt that's its value will appreciate in time. Plus, it's kinda cool owning such a crappy piece of gaming history

I asked my friend who works at GameStop. Apparently, they received their full shipments of the game about a week before they were to sell it. However, they received an email from their corporate office and were ordered to send it back. I wonder if EA would actually destroy these? I know they are pulling footage down from youtube and other sites and not allowing auction postings so I'm sure they will resort to whatever to keep the disaster that is this game from getting out.

Does anyone know why it was cancelled? I'd like to hear the story behind it.

Word. If you didn't pay a fortune for it, I'd put it up with a huge BIN obo, and just watch offers roll in. It'd be tough to sell considering we have no idea if more of these will show up, but if someone offers $1k+, I'd find it hard to turn down. On top of the fact you have another copy so not a total "loss".

Sell it while you can for the big bucks

A lot of people are telling me to sell high. I just wonder how many sealed Elite's actually made their way out into the population. I've been reading the internet and thus far, this appears to be the first one to surface. Could this game turn into the modern day stadium events? Don't shoot! I mean, how often do you hear now and days of a full run of a game from a credible company (I say this loosely) be recalled? This situation doesn't happen too often, especially this day and age.

In order for it to become a modern day Stadium Events, you'd first have to have a ton of people trying to collect a full PS3 library. So you are many, many years before it could realize that status, even if it were destined to be.

I don't think there is really any set value for it. The value is whatever you ask as a seller. If it is truly impossible to find, let alone sealed, then you set the price yourself. If someone wants it bad enough, they'll eventually pay it.

Sucks that Kevin Durant got the cover though. If it were Kobe / Lebron / Wade, then it'd be worth even more probably. Durant has tons of potential to develop into a HOFer, but his memorabilia sales don't even come close to values of the big players.

That's very true. I never thought about looking at it that way. Too bad it wasnt 2K11 pulled from the shelves with Jordan on the cover I guess that's what 2K gets for making an awesome game
