I haven't seen one yet but had heard there were two box versions, one with a pic of the host, and one without (supposedly they pulled his pic after he committed suicide). Any truth to any of this or just nintendo urban legend?

thx

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

I'd never heard of that, but if it were true, I would imagine the non-host box would have a -1 on the inner box flap, just based on the revision system they (sort of) used. Would be cool to know for sure though -- I'll definitely keep a lookout.

Ah, good point. And the non-host box doesn't show a -1 then?

I just looked this up on the net... pretty much proves the urban legend theory since the date of his suicide (96) is past the date licensed NES games were last made (94). I wonder, however, if the SNES version of family feud has this sort of a variant??

Ray Combs
Game Show Host
Ray Combs hosted the game show Family Feud for six years, replacing original host Richard Dawson in 1988 and in turn being replaced by Dawson, who returned to the show in 1994. In 1996 Combs, apparently distraught over marital and professional problems, was admitted to the psychiatric ward of the Glendale (Calif.) Adventist Medical Center. There he used bedsheets to hang himself in a closet.
