Ah, my mistake. . . But a mistake with a reason.  When the game was first discovered, people were calling it Arcadia IV as a joke.  The game consist of 6 mini-games, only four of which are complete.  There's an old thread on DP where Buyatari discusses it.  I will have to dig it up later.

I see...I must not have been around DP when that thread was created...if I recall correctly, I didn't join there until July of '04 or something like that.

Everything should be up to date (and alphabetized) at this point. I also denoted unreleased games using red text to help them stand out a bit while browsing.

Still waiting on the regions for coreycorey2000, and which GI Joe game Taco owns.

I can can put some up later today.  I know that the game was released on the Famicom, but I'm not sure what the title was (there are something like 3 Fami bowling games).

The game is fantastically fun and definitely worth reproing in the future.  On a sidenote, DreamTR also has a copy of this title.

Might as well post my crazy mexi-protos

Arkanoid
Star Force
Elevator Action
Paperboy

These came from DreamTR  I believe, and pics can be seen by searching the forums under mexiprotos. I dont know who he sold them to, but the person I bought them from cleaned them up, as well as fit them in original nes carts with holes cut so it would fit around the board.

^ That was meeee! I let them go over at Chase the Chuckwagon/Game Gavel a little over a year ago. Glad you like them. I was kind of reaching out in all directions trying to figure out where I wanted to take my collection and dabbled in proto stuff for a while, but just gave up after I found out it takes actual WORK to track them down

edit: here's your thread but no pics

wow Dan!!! I never would have thought it was you!!! I remember emailing back and forth, and after the one sold on ebay for $50 or so, you hooked me up if I bought all of them! I figured it would be neat to have some protos just as convo pieces of my collection, but now Im not actively seeking them because I want to finish my CIB collection first.

What an odd coincidence. Glad it came from a good owner though!

I think the verdict was still out on those mexiprotos, was it not? They weren't first party proto or production boards, and based on the games I think they should have been.

Weird boards, found in Mexico, EPROM chips...
I would swear they were more likely pirates than protos. Just my 2 cents.

Edit:

Yeah, nothing about these carts says "prototype" to me, they really just look like pirates or bootlegs.  3rd party boards with cheap contact pins, no officially licensed Nintendo parts (like CIC chips), I'd put smart money on these not being protos.

Cool as hell is right, I always love seeing weird stuff like this.

I know they've been referred to as "mexiprotos" but what is the full back story on these guys?

Now that's a very cool prototype to have.  Could you tell us a little bit about how you acquired the game, and if there are any differences between the prototype and released version?

Don't forgot to add pics to the "Proto pics for all systems" thread!

Thanks dude!  I have a few more on the way that I'm particularly excited for.

As for display, it's not much to look at unfortunately.  I have them at the bottom of Mark's collection in those official clam shell cases (puke).  I have the titles of the games written on the binding so I can find the things.  I'm still trying to figure out other alternatives, but I'm stumped at the moment.

Yeah, the clam shells look pretty ghetto, but they do the trick for now. I was thinking of investing in the acrylic carts cases from VGA for at least the unreleased game we have, but at $12 a piece even just those games would cost us near $150.

Aww man....sad to hear I've got my mexiprotos hidden away in a nintendo chest in my room lol.

I maybe have one suggestion. you could get a sheet of black styrofoam (more the stiffer stuff, not the brittle white that falls apart), then cut out enough places for maybe 20-25 games (or more depending on size). Then, put a wood backing behind the styro, and plexiglass over the front. I know plexiglass is fairly cheap at my hardware store, and they custom cut it for us. I would also think you could make a display for 25 of the games for like $35-40 + labor, and Im sure it would look AMAZING afterwards. Just some thoughts
