Try telling that to the Sega CDX that was fed 9v .85amp and didnt last a week. The original was a 9.5 1.5amp. Some have had good luck using the Gen 2 sega adaptor others have not.
The Amperage is what you need to watch out for even if its a little off it can damage the unit even if its the same voltage. I have seen this happen WAY to many times.
I have also had NES and SNES systems not work with aftermarket adaptors with identical specs or just off a .5 or so on the amperage, or those stupid 2 in one wall moles but worked perfectly fine with their out of box AC wall plugs.
Also 240v - 50hz vs the 60hz the system is designed to accept could be the issue too.
The orignal NTSC plug is Input 120v 60hz 17w, what is the input wattage of the 240v - 50hz you are using?
Op do you have a digital voltmeter?
