I wish people would learn how AC adapters work before bothering to reply about power. You fed it 10V 1.2A.... It's fine.

Try telling that to the Sega CDX that was fed 9v .85amp and didnt last a week.  The original was a 9.5 1.5amp. Some have had good luck using the Gen 2 sega adaptor others have not.

The Amperage is what you need to watch out for even if its a little off it can damage the unit even if its the same voltage.  I have seen this happen WAY to many times.

I have also had NES and SNES systems not work with aftermarket adaptors with identical specs or just off a .5 or so on the amperage, or those stupid 2 in one wall moles but worked perfectly fine with their out of box AC wall plugs.

Also 240v - 50hz vs the 60hz the system is designed to accept could be the issue too.

The orignal NTSC plug is Input 120v 60hz 17w, what is the input wattage of the 240v - 50hz you are using?

Op do you have a digital voltmeter?

.85A is almost  HALF of 1.5A in current. I'm surprised it worked at all.
A difference of 500mA when a system requires 1A is HUGE. Again I would be surprised if you got a system to work on .5A. Besides that IF you feed a SNES with an AC to AC adapter it won't work because the SNES doesn't have a rectifier in it and it requires DC. AC to DC adapters have both transformer, recitfier, and usually a capacitor to smooth out the DC wave form. The NES has a built in rectifier so it will take EITHER AC OR DC. Additionally when a system requires DC you have to take into account polarity. If you give it the wrong polarity it won't work, much like putting in batteries backwards into a toy or remote control.

You can have more amps then you need, the console will only take what it needs. However if you are providing less amps than required, I believe the console could actually overheat as it is trying to pull more amps than is available and working harder then it should be.

If I were you I would look into buying a step down converter and use it with the OEM NTSC wall mole. Thats what I would do but thats just me.

I'm hoping that with 99.9% good feedback he surely won't risk sending a dud again? I think i'm going to film the unboxing and testing etc to prove i'm not intentionally breaking them lol. Praying it works as i've spent a load on games too, at this rate it seems i'll be left with two broken NTSC nes's, if so i'll be selling the following NTSC games

Ducktales (cart)
SMB3 (cart)
SMB2 (boxed mint basically with manuals etc)
Chip n Dale (cart)
Blades of Steel (Boxed with manuals etc)
Crystalis (Boxed with manuals etc)
Megaman 2 (cart)
Shatterhand (cart)
Goonies 2 (boxed mint basically with manuals etc)
I think you should be good. Dont let a little setback get ya down on the NES! Like mentioned, I guess look into the whole stepdown power supply thing. Again, I don't know much about that aspect lol. Hope it all works for ya! Heres to happy gaming!

Ok so I edited this thread to protect the seller, however i failed to mention the following:

Games work sporadically on the system, after a LOT of mucking about by myself.

Of the two controllers he sent me, one didn't work at all and the one i'm using when i'm able to play has a dodgy B button that doesn't register sometimes.

Lastly.....the new system he has sent still hasn't arrived, been almost 2 weeks since I raised the issue with him, clearly gone for rock bottom shipping, going to share his ebay details on here this week if it doesn't arrive. Not impressed by him at all.

This is why you should have taken the system you had, and done ALL THIS BY YOURSELF. It's NOT difficult to change connector, scrub the system down, and fix the controllers. Gesh. More trouble fucking with getting a new system (THta will ALSO NEED FIXED UP ANYWAY) then just fixing it all.

Share those in the Hall of Shame thread if he doesn't follow through (just ebay ID, no personal details like real name, address, or email).

Locking this one since you edited all your posts out and it doesn't make any sense now.
