Theres a "battletoads in ragnarok world"
Yeah, so Battletoads Ragnarok's World should be on there, and Double Dragon 3 too?  Like I'm saying DD3 on GB is not the same as DDIII on NES.  Exactly why we have MM1-6 NES and MMI-V GB required for the GB set.  Not one or the other, both.

Ragnorok is a port of battletoads on nes, as someone corrected me on earlier, so I don't think it should be mandatory. I should ask, is double dragon 1 really not the same game on all the various platforms? Like is the lynx game really not the same one as the sms, genesis and nes game? I own a lot of them, double dragon 1 on genesis is unlicensed and the lynx game barely hit.

I do own double dragon on the 7800 though, so I'm confused.

So if Ragnorok is a port of battletoads on NES, then what is Battletoads on GB?  There's two GB Battletoads games, Battletoads and Battletoads Ragnarok's World.  The regular Battletoads on GB has the same exact artwork as NES and makes sense that would be the NES port.  But Ragnarok has it's own distinct artwork.  If anything is the port I'd think it was the original Battletoads?

I thought the same thing, if you look up the wiki entry for ragnorok though, it will state it is a direct port of nes battletoads. That implies the other release must be something more specific. Hopefully all this is fact checked before adding the final list, I'd be willing to help but im at work right now.

Also of note, the crossover double dragon and battle toads released on the genesis too.

Yeah sorry i read what you wrote as battletoads for some reason   its early here. If you think its different enough to add, then thts fine. I have never played it.

This is the fact checking right now. I haven't played every single game for every single console ever released, so I don't know what is direct ports or what is different enough to warrant an entry.

I just collect them, don't play that much so I'm not a big help there.

But, if Ragnarok's is the NES port, then you'd have to still include the GB Battletoads for the set then.  It would be 1 of NES Battletoads / GB Ragnarok's World AND GB Battletoads in that case.

Well I'll be home in a few hours, I collect both these series anyways so I'll share my findings and notes with you guys and let you see, should be kinda fun since a few of these I don't know about myself, but I'll look. The animal crossing list looks perfect though.

Alrighty guys, I tried to format this in a not sloppy way but I'm sure it could use some tidying. So, basically here are a bunch of notes and such I can determine based on my findings. I will also summarize what I feel should be the final list based on the standards here. That being that games with the same name but different games should all be required, US releases, etc. I wasn't 100 percent on the GB version of double dragon and battloads crossover or if the GB version of DD3 was different from the genesis one, otherwise I think the list below is pretty comprehensive, but obviously everyone here combined might have notes to share. I can look into the couple I wasn't positive on tomorrow if no one else knows for sure.

Battletoads/ Double Dragon

Battletoads- (NES, Genesis, Game Boy (In Ragnarok's World, watered down port), Game Gear)
Battletoads and double dragon- (Nes, Snes, Genesis, GB) (From what I can see, they all seem to be basically the same but if anyone can expand on the GB title that would be nice, had trouble on it)
Battletoads (Game Boy, different game often considered a sequel despite the same name and box art)
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs- SNES
Double Dragon (Nes, SMS, Genesis, Lynx, 7800, 2600, many more)
Double Dragon (Game Boy, this version has different level designs from the original, so it may be desired to count it as its own thing, your call)
Double Dragon (Game Gear, version is entirely unique)
Double Dragon 2: The revenge- NES
Double Dragon II (Game Boy, seems to be a unique game not like the NES/Arcade)
Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (Nes) (Not a port, but in fact developed in tandem according to http://doubledragon.wikia.com/wik... )
Double Dragon III: The Arcade Game (Genesis) (I had trouble determining if these are different games, but I do know they are not the same as the NES one)
Double Dragon III: The Arcade Game (Game Boy) (as noted, I couldn't find definitive info if the genesis and this are different, but I figured if you need the first 2 anyways, maybe)
Super Double Dragon-SNES
Double Dragon 5: The shadow falls -SNES, Genesis, Jaguar
Double Dragon Advance (this is a remake of the first game, if you want to count that)
Double Dragon (Neo Geo CD and PS1) (I would remove this as it did not seem to have a release in the US, looks neat though)

Battletoads

http://www.sega-16.com/2016/03/si...

So basically, all versions of the original title battletoads are the same game, but the genesis port and such were made easier with minimal changes otherwise.

Page defining that Ragnarok's World is based on the original game, where as the original Battletoads on the Game Boy is a different game, basically a sequel. http://battletoads.wikia.com/wiki...

Double Dragon (original game)

Youtube video showcasing all versions

Gamesack rundown on some versions

Wiki link for info on most of the main versions

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dou...

Notes about DD that I could see.

Double Dragon

Lynx, SMS, Genesis, Nes, Arcade, 7800 and such are all the same base game. The genesis game is unlicensed and very poorly designed by the look of it, the SMS supports co-op but is otherwise basically the same game, the lynx game is also the same but severely zoomed in. The GBA game is a remake with a lot of changes, I could see the arguement of including it as well, but it would depend if people counted REmake or Twin Snakes, etc as well.

Double Dragon 2

Nes version is solid but is actually very different than the arcade game, genesis version is more like the arcade game but didn't release in the US and is bad. The Gameboy version is also basically its own game.

Double Dragon 3

Genesis and Game Boy versions (while possibly different, can't tell right now) seem to be based on the Arcade game where as the NES game is its own thing, also having different names.

Not sure why my pictures aren't working. Sometimes Mediafire can be a bitch. I'll try again later.

As far as I can tell, it's working now.

Very cool list and I have been thinking for some time what should be included in Double Dragon set.  However, I would separate Double Dragon from Battletoads and make each one its own award.  As for the Double Dragon award, the Genesis and Sega Master System versions are ports of the arcade game and not at all like the NES version.  The NES version is way different from any version of Double Dragon out there.  Double Dragon 2 for the Gameboy is way different from the NES and arcade version and its own unique game.  Double Dragon 3 for the Genesis is a port of the arcade game, but I'm not sure about the Gameboy version.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

I wasn't sure if the NES one was different but most implied it was the same. Do you know of a place that breaks it down? I own both but haven't played the SMS one yet   Cool if so though, it makes the NES titles all unique.

Thanks.  That's a cool award to have.  My two biggest goals for award icons are Metroid and Tomb Raider since they are pretty much my favorite series.  The only thing keeping me from getting a Tomb Raider icon is the current gen system games, of which I own zero (both games and systems).

My submission for the Halo award.

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry
