Welcome to the first ever Sega Master System Weekly Contest at Nintendoage!  This contest will run for ten weeks, starting 11/26/17.  I've adopted many of the rules from the NES and SNES contest, so if you've played in them, you won't find much differences here.

GENERAL CONTEST RULES

- In order to submit a score for the contest, take a picture of your score with your NA user name written or typed on a piece of paper, which must be present in the picture. Your NA user name MUST be in the picture or the score will be invalid.  The entire TV screen MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  

- Previously obtained scores are not acceptable as submissions.  You must play the game during the week it has been selected.

- When posting a new score, please begin your post by typing out your score.  Larger font (18pt) is preferred.

- If you are posting an updated score, please create a new post with your new score and delete the picture from your previous post with the old score.  You may also edit your initial post with the new photo and score.

- It is highly encouraged to play with original software on original hardware, if possible.

- This is a contest of skill, so using any sort of device or feature that would give you an advantage over another player is prohibited.  Examples include, but not limited to, cheat devices, save states, altered ROMs, remapped controllers, and turbo functions.  The use of glitches to alter your score is also not allowed.

-Although not required, I would encourage participants not to practice a game in advance.

- Points will be earned in the same way as in the NES and SNES contests:

1st – 11 points
2nd – 10 points
3rd – 9 points
4th – 8 points
5th – 7 points
6th – 6 points
7th – 5 points
8th – 4 points
9th and lower – 3 points

I like how you prohibit save states in the rules.

What about using TecToy localized games?  
If I were to play here, I would pop Turma da Mônica em O Resgate rather than Wonder Boy in Monster Land!

That's a good question.  I'll have to look into it.
 

I can tell you beforehand that they are all only sprite hacks with localized text. No gameplay mechanics where touched on localizing those games.
 

I knew about the sprite and text changes, but wasn't sure if there were any other changes.  I watched a gameplay video on youtube and it didn't seem like anything else is different, so I'll allow it.

The numbering of the Monster Land leaderboard is messed up. I get OCD about stuff like that, lol.

An update regarding the schedule: I'd like to test out a few more games before deciding on the last three, so it will be a few more days until they are posted.  They will all be US releases though.
