I "pre ordered" it since it was free and I wanted it to auto-download on my iPhone.

I haven't played a game yet, but just got the notification, which I had forgotten about.  If there are any Dr. Mario fans out there, check it out and post your comments/thoughts.  I think it's on Android too.

I'm able to download it on android, try again. Good game so far. Seems like there's some annoying monetization mechanics though, may get in the easy of a capable update to dr mario

Got the notification. Hopefully it's decent.

Downloading it, I may try it out later tonight. Not big into mobile games as much, but I'll give it a try.

Hearing about micro-transactions is a bit of a turn off, but as long as they don't interrupt the game or annoy the ever living sh*t outta me, it should be okay.

After you get through the tutorial I don't think they annoying per se, but there's some kind of "lives" system which looks like you'll only be able to play X number of levels per X number of hours/day and have to wait or buy more lives

Could be worse, you get a life back every time you complete a level for the first time. The versus battles are pretty fun, though at low ranking it's kind of easy. I see how it could get really interesting in the later levels, both in the versus and single player game

Ugh, I just hate the "wait or buy" things mobile games do. I guess it's not too bad since it's free, and I guess they got to make money somehow, but naah.

As long as core gameplay isn't behind paywalls, I'm fine with this. As a person that spends way too much on my phone, I actually welcome these forced pauses   Many other games to play.
 

Good point. I did state that I'm not into phone gaming as much, so that may be the reason why it's a turn off for me.

 

You start with "infinite lives" which I assume go away after level 20 (I'm on level 19).

Game like this are casual time wasters. Hopefully your lives refill enough to be worth playing, though.

Something to do while on the toilet! I got to level 10 so far and enjoyed it, so it'll stay on my phone.

A Dr. Mario game with 3 different currencies, how reasonable. I sure hope this is a mobile distraction and not a glimpse into the future of Nintendo games.

It's a decent game. The versus is decently fun but it is nothing at all like the original. Would be cool if they did a classic mode for versus

speak of the devil -- managed to get 4 levels in last night before the server started having issues and I couldn't connect, lol.
 

That's one heck of a force pause. lol I think it's to be expected as it's a new game, so a rush of players are gonna bog-down the server a bit.

 

I just played the first 20 levels. You can keep going after that. No ads, transaction prompts, or forced stalls.

I'm enjoying it so far, almost finished with the second set of 20. I'd be much further if I weren't so obsessed with 3 starring every level. It's decently challenging and the versus mode can be quite intense, albeit short

A couple of more casual observations.

1. It seems that if you play a versus round (after you finish level 20, this mode opens up) if your connection croaks, you immediate lose. This isn't a big deal, however, it doesn't tell you why you lost. You simply lose. There's a PvP scoring system and I was doing rather well (winning over 80% of my games.) All of a sudden I started losing about 10-15 seconds into every game. I was really killing it too and I could see from the preview that I was supposedly winning. It was after the 5th loss I realized that something might have been up with my connection. Moved closer to my router and it started working just fine. Just be mindful. If you lose for some unknown reason, you might have lost your connection.

2. When you start a round, I'm positive the voice say "Leady? go!" I get it. Some times people from Japan swap the L sound for the R sound, but it's VERY pronounced. Just an observation and I have to point at it just to try and stop noticing it at all.

Just yesterday I finished 3 starring the last levels I was missing, and completed the last special stage. I've completed the pve portion of this game (free to play) and I have to say... it's a solid game. Looking forward to new levels.

Down sides: some levels are a bit luck based, the versus mode can swing wildly based on luck also. The box system is a bit frustrating if you just want to upgrade a specific doctor.

Up sides: everything else. The puzzles are quite challenging, the music is good, character abilities are unique enough to keep it interesting, and it's a lot of casual fun.
