It is truly tempting, but I can't commit to what it would take to be at the top on a consistent basis.

I might consider competing here-and-there, though.

(I see a few repeats on the game line-up from last year that I never want to play again in my life like Yoshi... a week of besting that one last spring burned me out for good )

And wait a sec... how am i Donatello in your analogy?

Low-score is definitely a rethink on the best procedure with the best survivability.

It also means your wonderful chart from the last Winter Tournament isn't nearly as helpful.

Actually the original damage chart may be helpful. You just have to figure it out in reverse this time.

Arch, we all know you're the genius of the group. You made us a damage chart for christ sakes. That makes u Donatello, I'm obviously Michelangelo, Claybird is Raphael, Doug is Leonardo, and Arnpoly is April.

I'm almost afraid to ask how I got to be Leonardo, but at least it beats being Arnpoly O'Neil.

I'm gonna try and post a score tonight. What's the over under on points to complete the game, 50,000 you think?

I'm not sure since going for a low score is completely foreign to me. If you can punch and kick your way through most of the game and avoid using the special moves, I'm guessing you could get below 50k. I'd have to look up that original damage chart to get a better idea. Edit/Follow up: I gave it a quick playthrough of the first four levels and had 9,500 going into level 5, so a 30k complete game might not be impossible.

Yeah I think a sub 40k would be a really good score and even a sub 30k might be possible. We sure could use a math whiz to help us tabulate the lowest possible scores. If only there was one who felt like playing this week.

I'm in the same boat. I'm tempted to give it a shot too, but I don't want to mess up the genre standings if I can't commit to playing every week and giving it my best effort.

If that's rusty, I expect to see a 25k one life run by the end of the week.

FYI - if you guys want me to update the scoring chart from last year, I need the following information:

(1) points-per-kick
(2) points-per-punch

(3) how many points you get stuck accumulating in order to do a throw off of a cliff

(4) in each level which enemies can be disposed of by throwing off of ledges (or which bosses can be killed by kneeing/jumpkicking off of ledges)

Punches and kicks are 10 points each, but punches do more damage according to the damage chart. Based on the bit I played yesterday, punches followed by knees to the face took out enemies with a lower point total than using the throw. I'm not sure on the bosses/enemies that can be knocked off of ledges. Both Burnovs could probably be knocked off their ledges with a single jump kick along with the Abobos in the forest, but I'd have to test it to confirm. The 3rd stage (helicopter) can be cleared without scoring a single point as long as you can make every enemy fall out of the door when it opens. Another variable is the weapon carrying enemies. The grenade/dynamite/knife carrying enemies can be killed without scoring if you can get them to drop their weapons without hitting them. The mace wielding Lindas are similar, but you have to hit them to get them to drop it. It should be possible to mathematically figure out the most efficient way to defeat each enemy based on the damage chart, but there are likely too many variables involving the weapons and ledges to come up with an exact minimum.

Yeah, completely forgot about weapons not scoring points.

Much tougher analysis than maximum score.

Not anticipating much in the way of participation, eh?

I put my predictions into the chart as it seems the ninja turtles are here

Shane would be disappointed in the lack of 1990s WWF references, so I'll try and fix this. Instead of Ninja Turtles, we can be the NA version of The Kliq. I'm obviously the showstopper, the icon, the main event Shawn Michaels. Arch is the cerebral assassin Triple H. Claybird is the bad guy Razor Ramon. BriGuy is big daddy cool Diesel and arnpoly is the 1-2-3 Kid.
