Hello everyone,

I figured I'd start my own pickup thread. Bare with me, I don't have a way to upload pics at the moment, but I will soon.

I typically just pickup what I can find in my backyard for cheap. I don't have anything against purchasing online, but on a limited budget, this is the best way to do it (for me, anyway).

4/12:

18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (GC) - Free

-I had visited a buddy's house and looked through his collection. He donated this game because he said he didn't play it much and had no real use for it.

4/14:

NES Play Action Football (NES) - $3 (Goodwill)

-Finding cart games out here is tough, so I pick them up when I can, especially if I don't have them already.

Future Tactics (Ps2) - $2
Winter 2003 Demo Disc (Ps2) - $1
Jam Pack V. 10 (Ps2)  - $1
Contender Demo (Ps1) - $1
IHRA Pro Drag Racing 2005 (xBox) - $5

-Just some odds and ends from the local pawn shop. I'm a sucker for demo discs. I think they are cool and I like grabbing them when they are $1 or under. They make neat collectables in my opinion.

Had a free day today, so I made a little road trip. Here's what I got:

Goodwill:

-dotHack Infection (Ps2)$3
-Uncharted 3 (Ps3) $5
-Gameboy Camera $1

Bigger Goodwills are usually hit or miss for me. I think I did well today. I found the camera in the toy section, so always keep an eye out for that stuff. I've been wanting to get into .Hack for a while now, so this is a nice start. I still need the DVD and manual unfortunately. I plan to use the Uncharted 3 in trade down the line, as I don't have a PS3

GameStop:

-Link's Crossbow Training (Wii) $.49
-Mercury Meltdown Revolution (Wii) $.99
-Ragnarok Odyssey (Vita) $12.99

Not much to say here. I bought Link because I'll probably stumble across the gun eventually at a thrift store. Mercury was a pure impulse buy. I already own it, so I'm not sure why I wanted another one. I bought Ragnarok because I got the PSTV for Christmas but I didn't have any compatible games, and it was the cheapest RPG they had.

Very rarely do I have this many finds at the local places. I have a theory. When the snow is out and it's cold, people are less inclined to donate things because it requires being outside more. Now that the temps are in the 70's, people are cleaning out. Garage sale season started too, might have to visit a couple.

Anyway..

4/17:

Thrift Store:
-Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (xBox) $2

No secret that I love the xBox, and Tony Hawk games. I've wanted to play this since it's release, even though I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as the original T.H.U.G. game. I also found Head Coach (xBox) that looked like it had a "variant" cover, and a copy of PGA 12 (360). I would have purchased them but this place only takes cash and I didn't have any more on me.

Goodwill:

-Rabbids Rumble (3DS) $4.50

Not much to say here. I like buying current gen games from Goodwill, so I can use them in trade to get what I truly want. This is up for sale or trade if anyone happens to be interested.

Lots to share this time around...

4/18:

-Serious Sam (xBox)

4/19:

-Silent Thunder (Big Box PC) $1
-Tales of Symphonia (GameCube) $25
-World of Outlaws Sprint Cars (xBox 360) $10
-Sega GT 2002/JSRF (xBox) $2
-Tony Hawk's Underground (xBox) $2
-Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (xBox) $2
-Flatout (xBox) $1
-Deus Ex Invisible War (xBox) $4
-Dave Mirra 2 (xBox) $2
-Steel Battalion (xBox)$5
-Rumble Roses (PS2) $5
-Naruto Ninja Destiny (DS) $2
-Naruto Path of the Ninja (DS) $2
-Wario BK Toy $.49
-xBox S-Controller $2

WOA is a tough to find, "under the radar" 360 title. I snagged it for $10, but it routinely sells for more than double that. Unfortunately, it looks like the disc might not play (kinda looks rotted? Not sure.). Symphonia is definitely more than I normally pay for games, but I really wanted it.

The Wario toy is up for trade if anyone is interested. It was something I saw in the Goodwill toy isle as I was leaving and decided to snag it.

So out here, we have these places called "Re-Stores" that are run by Habitat of Humanity. They are essentially thrift stores for building materials. Ours also takes household items. I've stopped out there looking for games before, but I've never really found anything. My dad visited yesterday and told me they had some games.

I actually found quite a few, but the majority were sports games. They also had a Gameboy Pocket case and a Coleco Telstar that I left behind. As I was checking out, the guy told me they had also gotten a lot more stuff in (NES, SNES) but they had already sold.

I broke the #1 rule of thrift store game collecting... At least I got to sift through the scraps.

$3 ea:

-Sega Dreamcast Web Browser
-ESPN NBA 2Nite (Dreamcast)
-NBA Hoopz (Dreamcast)
-WCW vs. The World (PS1)

I was shocked at the amount of DC stuff they had. Never come across it, even the sports games. I love the old 2K games from that time, and I'm trying to get them all. I left a few behind that I needed.

Every so often, the local thrift store has a half-off sale, where everything in the building is half off. I love these sales, because I can snag games between $1 and $1.50. This allows me to get Ps2 sports games that I can use for case upgrades and such. Unfortunately, they only take cash, so I only bought what I could with what was in my pocket.

Everything here was $1 each (FF disc should have been $.50)

NFL Head Coach (Sticker Variant Cover?) (xBox)
MLB High Heat 2004 (xBox)
Tiger Woods PGA 12 (xBox 360)
Final Fantasy 7 Disc 1 (PS1)

I've mentioned this before, but I'm trying to get a full original xBox set, which includes the sports title. $1 each locally can't be beat, so I got them for that reason. I also like golf games, but I never buy sports titles new, so I got this nice little upgrade to my last one (08 I believe).

The FF7 disc was a weird purchase. It came in the back part of a Crash Bandicoot Warped case, with no cover. I do want FF 7 eventually, so I'll find an incomplete copy and complete it. I'll either trade or hang onto the back cover art of the Crash game.

Alright, I feel comfortable sharing now.

I've toyed with the idea of doing a complete N-Gage collection. Getting the foot in the door would be easy, as a lot of the lower end games are pretty cheap. It also has a decent "chase factor" with games like Sega Rally to keep the hunt interesting.

I actually don't own any N-Gage games right now. This popped up on eBay and I decided to try and snag it. The game is fairly obscure (only released on the N-Gage), so I assumed that an OST would be even more obscure than the game... Especially a sealed one.

I don't know anything about it, if it's rare or if they are a dime a dozen. Could even be fake for all I know, but it's mine and I'm happy about it.

It's finals week, and I just finished my first day. I figured I'd grab myself a little gift from the CD store downtown.

-Joshua (NES) $10
-PS1 Demo Disc $1
-WWF War Zone (N64) $3

I have an interest in Wisdom Tree for some reason or another. I saw JonTron play Joshua a while back, and I wanted it. I normally don't pay over $5 for games, but this was a local purchase so I didn't mind doing it.

The PS1 disc is in a PAL case, which was interesting

Goodwill had a "May the 4th" sale today, and so I decided to grab the lone 64 title. Turns out you are supposed to mention the sale when checking out. It's only a difference of $.30 or so, so I'm not too upset over it, especially since I needed this game for my set.

Forgot to mention, I grabbed a copy of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker off eBay, from Japan.

I didn't do my research on this one, and I didn't realize it was localized (rookie mistake). That's okay, I learned my lesson.

Been slim-pickin's out here as of late... So I took a little road trip. Slim pickin's up there too...

-xBox controller breakaway cable $.75
-Wave Race 64 $5.00
-Hitman Contracts (xBox) $2
-NBA Jam Extreme (PS1) $3

I did find a hole-in-the-wall pawn shop with some games. They were picked through quite a bit, but they did have a boxed copy of Shatter Hand for slightly under market value, so I think I might get it eventually.

Whatever today is (June 8th I think)...

I was excited because I had to go on a small road trip to a town I've never been too, hit up 3 stores and nothing... Got home and snagged Diablo II and one of the expansions, in the big boxes for $12 total.

A pair recently sold for $30, so I'm pretty happy, not that I plan to sell these or anything.

Decided to garage sale "off the beaten path." I'm not sure about most places, but here, garage sales start Thursday and typically run until Sunday. Saw an advertised sale that had games, so I stopped by:

CoD: Black Ops 2 (360) - $5.

Not my best find, but it will make some nice tradebait since people still love this game.

6/20:

Went to the ballgame, used the opportunity to stop at some places:

Nascar Thunder 2002 (PS1) $1
Triple Play Baseball (PS1) $1
Grand Theft Auto w/Poster (PS1) $1.50
C-12 Final Resistance (PS1) $1
Sega Smash Pack 2 (PC) $1.50
F-1 World Grand Prix (N64) $2
Unreal II (xBox) $2.50
Action 5 (DOS-PC) $4
xBox controller breakaway cable - Free
NBA Action (Saturn) $2
Orphen Scion of Sorcery (ps2) - $6
Evil Dead A fistful of Boomstick (xBox) - $8

Not great, not bad. I suppose I should have left Evil Dead on the shelf.

Snagged these for $2 each from a small thrift store. DETS is a Squaresoft title, so I thought it would be a decent pickup... Oops... Worst part is, I left Raiden III behind. Guess I gotta go back now...

Yup, I regret leaving it behind. I just didn't know if I had the cash (place only takes bills and coins). I do though, so I'll be heading out tomorrow.

It's just disc and case, but I'll find the manual later.

Been a slow few weeks, not finding much except bits and pieces for the xBox set, and some PS2 cheapies.

Some notables:

-Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Ps2) - Local Pawn Shop is selling all PS2 titles for $1 each during October. I picked this up as trade bait, as I already have it.
-Complete Set of WON Mini-Figures from Wal-Mart - I know nothing of these, I found them at a cash register and decided to snag all of them since they were there (by all, I mean one of each)
-Mario Galaxy 2/Mario Party Island Tour/Mario Super Sluggers Wii - Wal-Mart had copies of these for $20 each. Figured what the heck, I'll add them in.

Today's Finds Include:

-God of War 2 (2 disc set) Ps2 - I find these a lot but this one was complete and I don't have it.
-Cabela's Wii Rifle - $1.50 for this bad boy, I want to try out some Cabela's/Gun games on the Wii.
-Control Data poster, because why not. Tech company that was located in Minnesota and was half of the mastermind behind the NES gambling attachment.

Yeah, I play Call of Duty, but I think it's fun and that's what gaming is all about. My "local" gamestop is something like 70 miles away, so when I went to pick up my pre-order, this is what I got in addition:

Madden '97 - Genesis - Mind you, cartridge games are impossible to find out here, ESPECIALLY Genesis. $2 for a minty copy? Happily.

Frogger 2 - PS1

ATV QPR - PS1

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - Wii - This has been my most-wanted Wii game for a while, and I've only found 1 copy. I broke down and bought it for $20

BLOPS3 - PS4 - The reason I went on my adventure

NBA 2k15 - PS4 - I like sports games, but I refuse to pay full retail for them. I will buy an older copy.

Tales of Symphonia - Dawn of a New World - Wii - I like the Tales series

Blazeblue - Xbox 360

Alien Syndrome - Wii

Backyard Basketball - Ps2 - I cut my teeth on the Backyard games for PC, but I never played them on console. I own a few others but I wanted to play this one.

Table Tennis - Xbox360 - I expect it to be complete crap, but a Rockstar table tennis game? Sure, why not.
