This person is super close to me and I thought about working out a local deal on this stuff but the prices seem astronomical and I want to make sure I’m not missing something completely rare before I reach out. If you look at this persons other items for sale they have really cool stuff but the pricing just seems out of this world. Am I going crazy?

I certainly don't see it. Maybe one of those "reach for the stars but really accept much lower offers" type of postings.

When in doubt, the Game Value Now lot value calculator can help you a lot too:

I’ll do that as soon as they agree I’m coming nowhere close to 8,500. I’m not gonna bother doing the work if they think they are going to retire at 30 selling NES games lol

At a quick overview I think I’m in around $1,500-$2k

He's averaging everything there at $100+ lol. Definitely reaching for the stars with that price point.

Everybody's GBA collection has a bunch of sealed games. They practically give em away.

I did message this person, he seems open to offers that axe out eBay and PayPal fees which is good. I told him I'd be in at around $1500-$2k and I'll check on GVN if he thinks this range is fair. I'll see what they say. I did let them know I'm local and can just meet up with cash....no fees or shipping required.

He did mention talking with his business partner, I'm wondering if this is the guy I usually buy some games from at the local flea market. He has a metric shit ton of games. Although his prices are way more reasonable so I don't know.

edit: I messaged him and he messaged me back already

I threw everything into GVN, came back at $2,540. I've thrown them a cash offer of $2,000. We will see what happens.

And I just got done selling all the doubles from my last $900 collection buyout, yay for more post office trips.

You do know if you straight up tell him that via private messaging eBay can slap suspensions as they don't like losing out on business. I jave messaged people about local deals and they come up with clever ways of explaining items may be locally listed. "Weather is great around "name of city" just look at the local reports on other sites and see for yourself." Someone messaged that to basically day their item is listed locally on other sites like Let Go and Offer Up.

That's not a lot of meat on the bone if you plan on re-selling, but regardless good luck with the process!

There is a lot there that I don’t have which is good and a lot to sell. I’ll have to make sacrifices  like selling Dragon Warriors in the box and Ninja Gaiden CIB which I don’t have but will fetch a good price. I wouldn’t buy a lot strictly to resell there needs to be stuff in there for me as well. The $900 lot I bought I got about $750 back and got to add a lot to my collection which is what I hope to accomplish here! Anyone who has bought from me also knows I give great pricing so I’m not all about making every dollar possible lol

I tried this not long ago, even using slang and deliberate misspelling and eBay still blocked my messages, and sent me a warning saying it was against eBay terms.

Can't you just set your account on vacation? I've never been able to buy from someone who has that status.

Pretty sure only eBay stores can do that not individual sellers (mmmaybe power sellers not sure about that one).

You can still buy from them it's more to mention that shipping will be delayed. Or maybe the seller can choose not to let anything sell but that seems counter productive.
