Would people feel differently about GH/PC if the spines matched black labels? It seems to me the majority of the consternation stems from the spine color.

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

on Nintendo wii, Nintendo selects I think? The spine is almost identical except theirs a little gold circle on the bottom. But the cover has a red frame around the whole image. Maybe people like these better?

I usually only collect original versions of games, so I give a shit. I don't like players choice versions. Not a single one in my collection of over 800 Nintendo games over various platforms. Except Superman 64. I've got that one. 😉

Sucks for the collectors that want all black label games since very few games do not have a black label release like Virtua Fighter Evolution.

What about Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition where the first print was greatest hits and the second was black label?

I wholeheartedly agree that it looks better. It's only game in my Zelda collection I also bought the NS version of as well.

A gold cartridge would have looked even better but hey, they didn't do that for some reason.

hate them so much. especially ps and ps2 with the crazy green/red eye sores that scatter the shelves. don't get me wrong - I'll keep a GH on the shelf if its the only copy of the game I got. But as soon as I find a black label it's gone. I'll go as far as keeping a worse condition black label instead of a better condition GH version.

It's about consistency. It's equally annoying when the style of packaging is changed midway through the system's lifespan (Genesis, PS3).

I like black label for uniformity purposes, but if I don't have a specific title and can get it at a good price, I'm fine with GH

I prefer the black label as well, but I'm not going to pass on a good title for a good price just because it's a GH. I find that if you keep the black label and GH separate, the uniformity isn't nearly as bad.

I give Nintendo credit with the Wii. The "Nintendo Selects" games don't have a different spine from the........"white label" games. But then you have those damn red cases.

In my gamecube collection, which i actively display, i have worfked very hard to not have any "players choice" labels. i think out of 350m, i have three, and am looking for replacements that were not Player's choice cases.

when it comes to ps1/ps2, i really dont care, as i dont keep much of either of the collection out other than what i play.

My vote goes to black label for display, but no difference in actual gameplay.

The greatest hits labels look like crap. Especially that PSX green with red text... ugh.

I don't care what my games are unless I'm collecting an entire set for a specific franchise. So in other words, my GH copies of FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII don't look so bad together.

Of course I always prefer original print runs. If I have a choice, I always grab the older one. But sometimes we don't have the choice, or if we do have the choice, we need to blow huge wads of $$$ out our ass.

So with that said, if I "need" a game for my collection, I grab what I find. If the OCD gets the best of me, I will upgrade it later. But often I find I can just live with it.

I tend to dislike the player's choice gamecube boxes, the yellow label makes the box stick out too much. Still, it's more of an OCD thing and usually isn't a deal-breaker

For some reason the only greatest hits that I truly despise are PS2, something about that red case that looks so horrible to me.

I don't like them, but a couple of them had updates and new content that wasn't in the original release of the game.
