So today I finally sat down and played Demons Crest for the SNES.  After an hour or so with the game, I couldnt help but keep thinking how much more I enjoyed Gargoyles Quest for the NES.  Same series (I think) and character, just much more fun on the NES.  Any others?

I liked the NES port of Uncharted Waters better than the SNES one for some reason. Exact same game, and usually in that case the SNES version wins, but I dunno, for some reason it seemed better on the NES.

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

How far into the game did you get? Demon's Crest is best when you have access to all of the locations on the world map, and you go back to find hidden levels with your new abilities. The game starts off slow and difficult, but does get better.

BTW, Gargoyle's Quest was on the Game Boy. The NES had part 2, which was decent, but nothing to write home about.

I actually preferred the NES version of Q*Bert to the SNES version of Q*Bert 3. I don't know. Call it a guilty pleasure, I guess.

I know is one that people love to hate, but I really like Jurassic Park on the NES and I think the SNES version is unplayable. Maybe its a matter of habitus, but I also really like the SNES Demon's Crest better than the NES version.

I always enjoyed the NES Mega Man more than all other Mega Man that followed, and I guess a few will agree considering they brought out Mega Man 9&10 in the NES style.

Also, the original NES Tetris is the best single-player Tetris there ever was and will be.

I'm going to have to second the Mega Man series suggestions. I really like the NES versions, but just can't get into the SNES ones...

This is the first thing I thought of too. I like the snes version, but the original nes Contra is the perfect game.

I have to respectfully disagree with you ,Demon's Crest is one of the action best games on the Snes.I didn't like the one on the Nes due to the fact it's controls were off in a lot of areas. And I think the Snes platformer style for this game was better than the rpg style that was used in the Nes game.Plus the music on the Snes sequel was some of the best music I've ever heard on a 16bit game.To make the long story short Demon's Crest is awesome ,were Gargoyles Quest is only an aveage game to me .

Ninja Gaiden on the Snes is just basically a collection of the original Nes trilogy ,with somethings added and somethings omitted.Other than the rarity of the Snes cart it's nothing more than a collecter's item.

While I have to agree with you on the Nes Mega mans being somewhat better,in my opinion none of the Nes Castlevania's are as good as SCV4 ,although 3 comes really close. On the other hand Dracula X is ok it's nothing to write home about, and when it comes to Adventure Island I'm not a big fan of any of the Nes versions that I've played .I've never played the Japanese exclusive 4 ,maybe I should consider buying a repro cart and giving it a shot. The original 16bit version sucks ,but SAI 2 is the best one out of the entire series in my opinion. And when it comes to SMB it's a "mixed bag " for me,I think SMB3 is by far the best Mario game ever made especially the 8 bit original ,but I like SMW better than the other 8 bit Mario games. And I think the "true" SMB2 that we never officially received until the various All Stars carts were released here in the states,is my 3rd favorite out of the bunch.

That was the first series that came to my mind as well. I like Contra III, but I prefer the two NES games. Then again, I'm probably one of the few people that actually likes Super C better than Contra.

Guess I am going to have to spend some more time on Demons Crest this weekend to give it a fair shake--just couldn't get into it for some reason--I would also have to second the Mega Man NES games -- much better on NES IMO

I dunno why but the SNES version just doesn't do it for me. The graphics are better, yet uninspired. The music and sound effects just feel off in the Snes version. It lacks the charm the NES version has.

Adventure Island on the NES for me. Just a lot more fun than its SNES counterparts.

Megaman 1-6 feels better than Megaman 7 and 8, but I'm not sure about comparing it to X. Although X1-3 does feel much better than X4-8.
