Could the AVS be used to output RGB?

Not directly. If you can find something that will convert an HDMI signal to RGB, you certainly could, but I imagine that would add a lot of unnecessary lag to everything.

Ok, I'll look it up. Maybe a good opinion for my rgb crt.

I would go with an RGB modded NES in that situation. The AVS is a great machine, but it's really made with HDMI TVs in mind.
