Is there an easy way I can view this on my iphone. It's a bitch downloading the mag online everytime I'm out and it's slow as hell to scroll down thru the pages. I currently use an app called VGT price guide but the prices are hit or miss and I know a lot more work goes into yours. If I'm going to give anyone my money I'd rather it be you!

^ Thanks actually I'm developing one right now with GameCoreMatt. We hope to beat the pants off VGT in both functionality and accuracy. Of course, he does all games...but really, how often do you need a TG16 price guide, lol.

If there existed a guide like this in book forum (like Beckett for baseball cards) that included not just prices and rarity scale, but also info about each game and all its variations, then I'm sold!

The one Dan is offering will be constantly up to date, as opposed to the DP collectors guides, which will have static pricing.

Thanks for the bumps and orders, guys. I'll look into expanding the data a bit, I currently collect total volume in an effort to fine-tune rarity figures, a %-sold would go a long way to fixing that.

The goal is to make it into an app when I can find a developer, so stay tuned. If I could get it into an app store and make some additional money off of it, I'll do whatever demand dictates.

Dan, there is something called "Titanium Developer" that is free and lets you use Javascript/HTML/PHP to write native applications for iPhone OS and Android. I have played around with it a bit myself and it is really nice, you can even use SQLLite. That is probably the way you would want to go, and you could do it yourself (assuming you don't rely so much on something like Coldfusion you forget how to code =p).

I'm just bumping this topic because I got another PM asking if I add $2 for shipping to the price.

---------

The price guide controls for "padded shipping," which is NOT an actual shipping cost. The prices you see in the guide are "ready to use" and don't need additional modification. I'll explain.

It costs anyone $2 to walk to the post office and ship a loose game via first class mail.

Most sellers charge the $4 maximum allowed by eBay in that category.

This extra $2 goes right into the seller's pocket, and therefore needs to be added to the price guide. Otherwise you have games that seem to sell for only a penny.

For instance, if a copy of Major League Baseball sells for $1.00, and the shipping is $4, it's logical to say the actual price of the game is $3 since the customer paid a total of $5, but only $2 went to cover S+H costs. The seller "padded" the shipping price to avoid eBay's fees. It's a financially motivated (if confusing) practice and certainly within eBay policy, but it also needs to be controlled for otherwise my guide will be inaccurate.

Hi Dan,
I was trying to check that imageshack pic you've got on the first page, but the link isn't working properly. It just goes to the imageshack.us homepage.

Aside from that, I have a couple of questions about this guide of yours. Have you included PAL games already? If so, it's only PAL exclusives right? I mean, the rarity columns are always for the NTSC versions, not PAL, am I correct? I'm asking this because I have a mixed collection, lots of PAL and lots of NTSC games. In many cases it doesn't really make a difference, but for some games one of the releases is much rarer that the other.

Other than that, you say that you can check some boxes indicating which games, manual and boxes you have. Do you have to re-check everything again once a new issues comes out, or is there any way to bring your checked items into the new issue?

Great work putting all of this together!

I cannot test for Iphone, but if you have trouble I'll give you a .csv format version. This is a very basic spreadsheet format without a ton of bells and whistles. I've tested this on a few of the free-option Android apps and no problems.

I was wondering when we will see a new version of this, I have a ton of stuff I want to get rid of and would like to price it properly.

Thank you.

Not in its original form, but I do have a good lead on a mobile app developer. I would still hand-compile the list, but I would be able to appeal to a broader market and bring the price down. Stay tuned.
