I wanted to announce that Scott (Pats1717) has contacted me and offered up his time to rekindle the now-defunct e-zine. I want to thank you Scott for doing this as I know the 'zine has been sorely missed over the last few months.

I'm making this announcement for a few reasons:

1. To spark interest for any writers/editors/artists out there that want to contribute (once, twice, monthly, whatever you want). We need articles, cover art, inside art, people to help with the editing burden, and maybe even a few people to help out with random tasks.

2. To get ideas for new directions to take the e-zine. What would you like to see in it?

Please get with Scott and send the articles and artwork to him. He's been added to the [email protected] mailing list, so he should get messages there.

I'll open it up to any thoughts, suggestions, etc.

i volunteer for a screenshot caption contest- a month before we post a screenshot from a NES game, members submit a caption, top 3-5 are put in next months zine.

-------------------------

I AM ZI, CHIPTUNE ARTIST FOR THE NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, COMPOSER OF BOTH BLEEPS AND BOPS, VIRTUOSO OF INSTRUMENT FABRICATION, MERCENARY OF THE RETRO MUSICAL SOUNDSCAPE! THE SEGA DEVELOPMENT GUYS KNOW ME AS KNUCKLES SPRINGSTEIN, THE LONG ISLANG GEEK SQUAD KNOW ME AS ABE ECKSTEIN'S BOY, AND I AM KNOWN IN CANADA AS THAT KEENER WHO ALWAYS GETS THE NUMBER TWO BREAKFAST COMBO AT TIMMIES... and there are other secret names you do not know of yet.

Awesome.

^ I second the screenshot caption contest idea.

Any interest in maybe a puzzle? Like crossword or wordsearch? I wouldn't mind doing that.
I don't mind doing anything else to contribute either.
Though despite my art icon I'm really not a big artist. (Everything I've done has been in Paint, including my avatar.)

Biggest thing is the editor should actively contact (and pester) people for articles, not just wait for them. Talk to people who have written before. Suggest ideas for people who say they are interested but have no ideas.

I would like to see:
More reviews of obscure games in the NES library.
Lots more screenshots/maps in reviews, see Nintendo Power articles.
More NA stats, like monthly traffic.
Expand into Nintendo consoles other than NES for those of us who don't know about the others.
Price guide and comics should be always there.
QA interviews with homebrewers, repro makers, resellers, etc.
Stats/leaderboard from the gaming contests.
Any new product (homebrew, repro, etc) sold here should have an article about either history/review/construction.
Any time a game is mentioned, have it be a clickable link back to the database.
Same with articles, title should be a clickable link to the discussion forum topic.

I think it would be neat to include a lot of hybrid's hard work and have a section codes/cheats for homebrews, kind of like the old "classified information"

Hybrid's game genie codes would be an awesome addition.  Especially with more new games coming out (ya'll looking forward to the nesdev competition homebrews yet? You won't be disappointed!)

Lets put some of the SNES CIB rarity stories (i.e Three Ninja's) in the ezine. Those have been some of the more interesting reads for me on the board lately. I would be down to write up a SNES game review sometime this summer of an obscure game, or maybe even a hack or translation.

It would also be cool to see more finders keepers stories in the ezine.
