Glover 2 prototype help? Can't get passed the scarecrow

I've gotten to the point in the proto where you fight the scarecrow, I can manage to knock his head off but my attempts to throw his head into the pot seem futile. Is it possible?

Also how do you get the little crow birds into the pot?

Oh wow I found a way to clip through the door behind the scarecrow :0. Has anyone passed the scarecrow before? I'm in a whole new area.
