not a bad list.

I'd add "Gods", though. Was really surprised by the SNES port.

I had actually cosndered this one, but eventually decided against it due to me seeing The Legend of the Mystical Ninja brought up quite a number of times. You bringing it up is still cool though.

Why does Skuljagger never make these lists I can't be the only one who actually likes that game, but then again I also liked Dr Chaos and Deadly Towers on NES

I like it! (And I like both NES games you mention, though the irrelevance of most of the dungeons in Deadly Towers annoys me.)

I think needing the comic book/manual to play Sküljagger properly has something to do with it. The final boss fight is really unfair without the code from the manual, not to mention it's coming at the end of a string of three levels with no passwords.

It can be an intensely frustrating game, but I find it endearing enough to have beaten it twice. It's so off-the-wall that I can't help but like it, and its approach to secrets is exactly right (i.e. they're not mandatory -- except for the final boss fight -- and are relatively easy to find).

I think that just about every RPG worth playing on the system is well-known, to the point that I've seen Europe/Japan-only RPGs like Seiken Densetsu 3 and Terranigma be common knowledge with the many American gamers that I've interacted with. Though now that you mention it, I suppose I could confidently mention Robotrek, The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, and Uncharted Waters, but that's about it really.

Either way, I made the decision that the other genres listed above were more deserving of attention and focused more on those, though I did end up putting The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, which is said to be an action RPG, in the action category. I also figured if anyone asked, like you just did, then I'd be more conscious of it then, so I guess it all worked out in the end.

Well, since no one has objected to it yet, I presume that no one wants to object to a genre a game is placed under. I went back and forth for awhile as to whether or not Phantom 2040 and Super Turrican should be placed under either action or platformer. Haha.

Skuljagger is fantastic I play it frequently.

Lots of great titles on that list, played tons of looney toons ball and lost Vikings, and knights of the round. People get caught up in the usual A list titles and miss out on some lesser known games.

I actually love the first Top Gear more than the sequel or 3000. All are fine games, but the first, for me, will always be the best.

I thought to put the third one since the first two are more well-known I feel. Plus, I felt the additions were cool, like the sci-fi setting. Haha.

Agreed, it does make the game have some more replayability to get to customize as you go, and yeah, 3000 is definitely the least known of the trilogy.

Never thought Ken Griffey would be a lesser known SNES game.

Glad to see the SNES top gear games getting some love here!  I would agree with you, if only for purely nostalgia.  Top Gear 3000 improved upon pretty much everything and is just such a fantastic game.  Top Gear, in its own simplistic way, is still very charming and fun to play on the SNES.  Would LOVE to see some more titles as a follow up to the SNES top gear series come out with different tracks, music and modifications but the same core gameplay.
