Seriously?  I hate to break it for you, pretty much anyone spending $500, let alone $1000 (or nearly $2000 in your case) for a cartridge, of any kind, is a "Crazy Collector".

I see about 5 WTB people (some people made multiple WTB threads) since the WTB forums was spun off (2013) for Zelda MM Gray, and 3 for the N64 test cart (one is you).

http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

http://nintendoage.com/forum/mess...

There's a lot of N64 collectors, and there are only so many grails in N64.  Sculptors Cut CIB, some rare variants (BB Rampage / Tarzan), Zelda MM Gray, N64 Kiosk and this N64 test cart.  Of course there is going to be demand for it.

I find some comments in that 3rd thread particularly interesting:

June 7th, 2013:

"Assuming the cart is super Minty (talking about Zelda MM Gray) I'd go as high as $500. But again, $1000+ is just stupid." - level42

Which, btw, you just paid $1850 for.

And now, you are saying (about N64 test cart): "I think $500-$600 is a fair amount, but 700-1000$ I would not go there. I'd rather wait."

If you can't find the irony in these comments I don't know what to tell you.  It's like Deja Vu, don't say I didn't warn you.

I collect within my means, I'm not concerned with any perceived value. I just think it is silly for someone who can provide zero proof of completed sales, as well as being a potential buyer of the item, to be talking it down. It is up to the OP to assess how it values it personally.

There is nothing to indicate these are losing value, actually the increased interest by you and other new & old members show its going up in value or atleast staying steady.

We all understand your trying to get the best possible price here but your estimates are way low so just accept that. These don't show up often you may want to make your offer count.

Yes that's the one.  I actually bought it shortly after he originally posted it for sale he just never updated his thread.
Comparing  to NES this Mario Test cart would be more like Zelda test cart versus an NTF2 test cart.

The N64 Test cart is pretty much the rarest cart for the system, bar none. At he current value I believe it to be significantly undervalued at the moment compared to it's potential value, and as more people get involved in N64 collecting I fully expect this to be the most expensive item in the entire set long term. Well advertised, I would fully expect it to crack $1000 at this point.

Asking 1000 for this is a joke since the most I've ever seen one sell for was 600 in auction which is where VALUE is evaluated is it not????? This is anywhere from 450-700 depending on how many people want this. I personally will offer a Stunt racer manual for it which last time I saw was around 550$.

I guess sculptor's cut is now a 1200$ cib since the last auction which ruined the 1800+ streak for it.

EDIT: changed not to now

Yea these were technically a test cart because they have a part number in the service center price list to order them, and they came with the white test cartridge sticker.  It's hard to tell with them thou unless you have the provenance to back it up.  It was most likely used more for a burn in test to make sure a system was working after repair, it's nowhere near as cool as the actual N64 test cartridge. It's funny I remember back in like 2010 Otto had 3 of the N64 test carts for $100 each and barely anyone even wanted them. My how times have changed.

And just 3 years ago Stadium Events was a $3000-$3500 game.  Now it's around $10K.  In 5 years people will be laughing that this cart was selling for $600-$1000.

I tend to agree with this, except for the "most expensive item" part.  One of the most, but Sculptor's Cut CIB, especially in Mint shape, will reach some ridiculous pricing.

As a collectible, the test cart is also basically impossible to counterfeit.  That is another big positive factor that it has over some other items.  That is why the Zelda MM Gray test cart does so well too, because it is a demo ROM different from release (i.e. you can't just swap a reproduction label on a gray cartridge and make a fake).  Unlike some other NFRs where a fake label on the retail game could get passed off as a fake.

Also, we haven't even talked about Rev B versions, you can still count the number of confirmed copies of those on one hand.  I anticipate that many people will be happy just to get the test cart in any form (Rev A or Rev B), but the real dedicated N64 purists (like myself) may want to seek out the rarest of the rare variants.  And that Rev B cart is on a whole nother level...

This thread is pretty humorous.
Let's get one thing straight, rarity does not mean value.
You want to talk about undervalued you can talk to me about prototypes.
people are not willing to pay much for prototypes because they remember when they cost $100.
You don't see many prototypes going for over $500.

didn't care to read that far ahead, just gave my thoughts and only off by 150$ though. Just went on the history I've observed. I saw his post after i replied and thought damn, thats a nice offer  Cheers and goodluck with the sale. Not joining any debates or petty arguing in general.

Your prices were bullshit NOW.  $450?  Lol okay buddy, maybe 5 years ago.  $600 is a fucking steal for the cart and $1000 is certainly not "fairytale land", I doubt you will even get someone to sell one posting a $1000 bounty.  There's probably less than 10 people on this entire forum who even own this cart.

Zelda Adventure Set is quite rare too (1000copies in the world). But probably less appreciated down here because its PAL. And it goes for +/-2500$

450-700 was a range for this member's Rev A. Only bull is your attitude, grow up. As stated by jone its not Rev B which he won at OPEN AUCTION for 600(?) WHICH IS AN ACTUAL DATA POINT. Go suck a lemon if you can't take someone else's opinion; starting to see this elitist BS I always hear about. HYPEHYPEHYPE

I'm just picturing you saying that to my face and I assume you wouldn't because it sounds obnoxious and rude, or do you really converse like that with people. This quote is referring to fairytale land "In 5 years people will be laughing that this cart was selling for $600-$1000." Since I've aquired some unique variants I laugh how those prices dropped like stones (blockbuster Snap NFR, gauntlet legends figure) despite rarity and unique roms which goes to show in 5 years from now, no one might not give too craps anymore just like with pogs, comics, cards you name it.

That 850$ offer is great and means I will never own one ever, unless the guy wants to trade haha.

Anyways Im done, if you like to sling mud pm me but don't call my opinion bullshit thanks.

Based on all the replies (minus the fluff) you have a rough estimate of somewhere between $400-1000, depending on if the right buyer comes along. Me personally, if someone was offering $750 for something I found in a box that I'll never use, I would take it.

This forum pisses me off sometimes with this crap.
He asked for the value, not what it was 4 years ago and not what it will be in the future.
if a rev b sold the most recently for $600 then that's the mark, no need to bullshit with all these ifs, maybes and offers, I remember when this community tried to help out other gamers.
Now nobody is happy, congratulations everyone.

Hey Lars you should make a new post in the for sale section with the N64 test cart.  Im going to lock this thread up seeing as I think we we accomplished setting a price idea.
