Game #1: Super Mario World
Rules
  • Goal -> High score
  • Bonus Point -> Beat the game
  • 1 life only
  • You may use each of the 96 level exits one time each.  If you #$%@ up and re-use one your run immediately ends
  • The same goes for the bonus area in Donut Plains.  You can "clear" it one time
  • You cannot back out of completed levels
  • You cannot use the item switching trick to boost your score.  Having to do that a thousand times every level would be lame
  • Take a picture of your score before you fight Bowser as you will not be able to see it once you enter the castle roof
Game #2: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Rules

  • Goal -> Progress
  • Bonus Point -> Beat the game with no deaths
  • Tiebreaker #1 -> Low deaths
  • Tiebreaker #2 -> Low hearts
  • Tiebreaker #3 -> Low sword
  • Tiebreaker #4 -> Low tunic
  • Tiebreaker #5 -> Low bottles
  • Tiebreaker #6 -> No magic upgrade
  • Tiebreaker #7 -> Earliest submission date
  • Again, all tiebreakers are low to high.  By that I mean they reward less hearts, low armor, no bottles, etc.  This is rewarding minimalist runs, not completionist
  • You can use and reload saves, including reseting if you die
  • No glitches allowed

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Game completed
#1- No deaths
#2- 14 hearts
#3- Gold Sword but first got the Tempered Sword
#4- Red Armour. Also grabbed the mirror shield if you take that into account.
#5- Two Bottles
#6- 1/2 Magic
#7- Submitted Jan 1, 2018

I did this in one sitting and reset my console while the credits were rolling before taking a picture of my inventory. If I'm required to replay the game to get more pictures I probably could sometime later in the month but hopefully won't need to seeing I didn't go for a full minimalist run. I tried learning the speedrun route for this game by following Fruitbats beginner speedrun tutorial on youtube. My submission has the exact inventory he did after killing Ganon.

Super Mario World - 469,500

I finally had a chance to play some super mario world. I had a good time going for high score. It gave a different way to play which is nice with a game I've played many times before.

Just to clarify,

"You may use each of the 96 level exits one time each."

So if a level has two exits you can go through twice, just using both exits?

some levels have 3   though the last exit I ever found to 100 percent this game is something you have one shot at in the level. If you screw it up youll have to end your run if youd already used the other exit.

Did a run though of Link to the Past. It could be approved upon but I wanted to get something up there quickly. This month will be busy for me and I won't have any time to put a real effort in.

Just to clarify, to beat PeaPod you'll need to, at minimum, no death the game. Higher tiebreaker takes precedent.

I haven't played the game in 20 years so perhaps I'm forgetting things, but there is there some reason those levels shouldn't be fair game?

I see. We'll say you can do it one time, as I interpret it to have one "exit". Ditto for Yoshi's house (if you want to do it for some reason)

I dont see why it wouldnt. The fact that there are easy save state situations on it really pushes the honor system though where id be sceptical of any post with it. Pretty much already the same thing with emulators though to me. Just my opinion. I assume if those are allowed then the snes classic would be. Just gotta hope people arent below cheating in a contest for fun lol.

really hard to believe someone not owning these 2 titles though lol.

If someone is sad enough to cheat in one of these contest.... well, they probably need it more than me lol!

I think I might own 10 SNES games. I do have SMW but not LTTP.
