I figure a lot of people must have thought about buying this one.  Insane Dave had it for sale for months at $90 obo (if you haven't dealt with him before, you should, very nice guy and easy to work with), so I pulled the trigger on it.  Relatively cheap for a game with a bunch of known differences, but now you all can have it (and many others to come) for free!

In other exciting news, I was able to attach the .bin file for this guys, so download away!

Sweet!

So how do I play this. I know nothing about roms or .bins or what ever. If I just download and open the file will it work.

~EDIT~ Is hoppin mad available like this, because I'd like to try it. And will you guys be selling more of them but not special editions?

You can download Hoppin' Mad from this thread:  http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&th...

We're all done selling copies, but Coin Heaven has it for sale on his site:  http://www.thenesdump.com/screen%20shot%20pages/prototypes/h...

The first label is a modified version of ours, the second is a very cool label that Hybrid threw together.  He does really good work, I highly recommend anyone who missed out on buying a copy but still wants one to grab a game from his site.

We have well over a year's worth of ROM's to bring to you all, so keep checking this thread every month for the next free proto ROM!

yea, if anyone wants one it is 30.00 shipped

Happy July everybody!  New month means new proto ROM, so here we go!

July's Prototype is:  Hatris!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Original purchase price:  $94 shipped from MichaeltheGreat

Notes:  This proto has a very interesting origin.  Most people remember the epic haul that Jollyrancher had a while back that contained the Campus Challenge, Powerfest, Earthbound proto, numerous Competition Carts, as well as all kinds of crazy stuff.  Well, one of the items that was found in that haul was this Hatris cart.  Pretty neat if you ask me.  Not quite sure of any differences this one has from the final verion, but you guys can feel free to mess around with it and have a little fun!

Unfortunately no binary differences from the production version. Do you know if that SMB case was from Nintendo or someone afterwards?

Might want to consider making a new thread each month so people don't have to dig through the thread to find the files.

The case is the same as the one Jollyrancher had when he purchased the lot, so I assumed it to be original (although with protos you can never really tell). There is a large SN EPROM sticker holding both carts halves together that I've found on several other protos I own, so I'm pretty sure it's the first case it was housed in.

Bummer about the bin differences, but I figure I'll get as many of these out there as I can for preservation regardless of differences or not. At least people can take a peak, right?

As to a new thread every month, I think it would just clutter the place up. I've updated the first post with red bolded letters to help people find the newest ROM, so I'm hoping that should alleviate any issues with finding it.

I think you should update the first post with the acutally ROMs. Each member can set the nubmer of posts shown per page, so this one is still on page one for me. Just keep them all in the first thread. But I guess if I have to dig for them I can "somehow" survive for a free ROM

ROM removed from post #21 and added to the first post, good suggestion.  I'll continue to update the first post with ROM files, but leave the info for each proto later on in the thread.  If people want to see some pictures or the back story, I'll indicate which post the info can be found in.

Bunny:  I added a few pics of the sticker on the cart if you were interested.

Thanks guys, have fun!
