I've started up Genghis Khan. I'm sure Daniel_Doyce could beat all the Koei games before I beat just this one.

My wife and I have a baby on the way soon, so that means I have no idea how long it will take me to beat this one. Definitely this year though!
congrats

Also congrats!

I'm going to get started on Faxanadu, which might be a bit of a long experience for me since I've never played it before.

I spoke too soon about Faxanadu. I had a fair bit of free time last night and I finished it in a single day. I think I only took down 1 password and did it in 2 sittings. Also worth mentioning that I beat both Faxanadu and Faria exclusively with my new joystick controller, made by Headcolors. They're not exactly arcade titles but I used them as an excuse to play around with it. Tons of fun all around!

It's just an uncommon game, not a part of a famous series, hard difficulty... I don't hear too many people praising it either.

That stick looks pretty slick. Might have to look into that.

The black bass is done, i found it much harder to be ranked number one in the year's last tournament than getting first earlier in the season, for one the last tournament's day is shorter so you don't have as long to try and it also seemed like the fish would jump off your line more often but that might just be my imagination

bonus picture: 22.9 lbs. the biggest fish i was able to catch although it wasn't during the final tournament

Got tired of seeing Hydlide on the unbeaten list, so I beat it:

And I took care of Marvel's X-Men aka Uncanny X-Men as well, for similar reasons:

I actually did kill Magneto, though it's not necessary to beat the game.

I didn't actually know that. Cool trivia for me!

Oh, yeah -- you don't need to kill any of the bosses.   You can literally just walk out on every single one of them, though I ended up killing two of them (out of five). BTW you can also regain all your characters before taking on Magneto's stage by simply replaying the Practice stage. (Start+A to exit it, as given in the manual.)

Unless you get screwed by a bad enemy spawn or magnet placement, it's really a pretty easy game as long as you constantly grab invincibility items, and play as Colossus who can take far more punishment than any other character (Wolverine is a distant second).

The one exception is a spot in Magneto's stage where you have an empty screen with no enemies, followed by a screen where the game loves to have an enemy spawn right on top of you as soon as you arrive. No way to arrive with invincibility, unfortunately, and I got a couple of GAME OVERs just from that spot alone, until somehow I managed to cheese my way past it with Cyclops. I don't remember having that much trouble there before, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

When I beat it last year I killed them all. Had no idea you could cheese it like that. Thanks!

I've been super-busy the last few weeks, but I'll be doing more gaming again here very soon. I think I'll do Play Action Football in the next few days unless someone has started it or is planning to immediately.

I noticed that I've already clinched most completions for 2019. This is my 6th straight year for clinching overall completions and licensed completions (since in most of those years, licensed games were only one set involved in this challenge...).

RC Pro AM 2 is done. Pretty pumped. Got back into RC pro am 1 for the letsplay wizard tourney. Had me wanting to play this for a while and I went on a marathon. Finally beat it. I have tried many times and could never get there in the past.

If you are wondering about the 19 lives, no, I didn't cheat or use a code. Level 35 is hard as shit, but contains a free life. On the many times I lost, I got the free life each time to break even, but the game counts that. I got all the extra lives the game has on the tracks, but also got them that way and bought a few.

I thought about maybe contributing a game or two as well, but since I mostly just have PAL or Japanese games lying around I was wondering whether a game from a different version would be eligible too?

Other versions are fine, as long as it's not something drastically different like Power Blade/Power Blazer.

Snake's Revenge

Despite what you've heard, this game was actually enjoyable. It has flaws and stupid parts, but it's a Konami 8-bit game so you know it's going to be worth playing. Of course it can't hold a candle toward the real Metal Gear 2 on MSX, but it was fun nonetheless. I was mostly blind going into this, although I remembered the final battle and how that worked. Nothing too difficult if you've played the other MGs - the hardest part was getting into the building at the beginning, and there's a hint in the manual for that (it doesn't say that you can't be in alert mode, so I had to figure that out).

Nintendo World Cup

Nice English flag there. Beat West Germany 10-3 in the final. Easy except for Argentina, who are ridiculously hard. Overall, it's a lot of just sitting around with the ball until the last couple of matches which are actually challenging. I noticed the timer actually runs slower than real time, which is funny. I can't recommend any NES soccer games, to be honest.

Hey guys! I'm "halfway" through Genghis Khan. I can only play in 20 minute chunks here and there but it'll be done eventually.

Nice... how are you liking it so far?

I guess I should start on Nobunaga's Ambition 1 and 2 soon.
