i dont like "mint" "near mint".... stupid. just give it a number! i am a hard grader, but with that said, i am not a condition whore. i have many boxes rated 6 in my collection, and that is fine with me. it is very hard for me to give a box a 9, and almost impossible to give a 10.

near mint in my opinion is a 8 - 9.5. Most of the games in my collection I concider near mint have the factory seal still intact arround them but are open at the top, or those boxes which apear almost flawwless despite a few  very minor scuffs.

I am also not a fan of the words mint or near mint. They are thrown around too much.
I consider mint to be in new condition. Near mint should be pretty damn close.

agreed, theres a few VERY minor scuffs and scratches so its not a 9.5, but pretty damn close.

That box has what looks to be an indent on the bottom left of the front and scuffs along the bottom middle of the back.

Not sure if that really affects it, but I would say it's just under near mint whatever that would be!

i only see scuffing on it (which is truly minor shelf wear), and if that is the case, i would give it a 9, because i see no bends or indents or anything else on there.

wow, people are more precise than I would have figured. I would think that is an easy 9.

there's a real small tear on the back top right corner, other than that (and very small minor scrapes) it looks awesome

Yeah looks pretty minty, reguardless of the exact numerical value on the condition scale. Nice copy!

I would call that a 9. It looks like a small dent in the bottom right of the front, could be flash glare, and the already mentioned scuffing. Nice box, damage.

I would say 9 IMO, but im not very up on condition. I did just by some boxes from someone who said they are 9.8/10 and 9.9/10 so we shall see if my 9.8 & 9.9 are the same as someone else

To me, "near mint" is near mint, not quite mint.

Most brand-new games aren't a 10/10, either. That's why in other grading schemes like comics and cards, 9.8+ is considered mint. Unless you pulled that sucker right off the factory line, there's almost always going to be some kind of wear on it. That said, my idea of near mint is like most people's here: 8.5-9.5 is Near Mint. On NES boxes, I look for things like whitening at the corners and edges, scuffing on the box faces, and any kinds of dent/wrinkle/bend/tear.
