What is this? All I've been able to find online are other people asking what this is with no answers to any of them.

Maybe one of those arcade cards that were primarily used in Japan to save your progress on some games in between game sessions? I know that there were a small handful of arcade games that had this option in the late 90s/early 2000s, but heard that they were much more common in Japan.

Hmmm.... "Place of identify magcard".

I don't know what it is specifically, but that little Engrish means you need to slide the card in that direction through a mag card reader. Which is strange as the piece looks to be a chip-based thing, and not a magnetic strip?

If you know anyone in retail, you could have someone open notepad and run it though their credit card and see what data comes out.

My guess is that it has to do with some sort of card that goes to a specific card reader. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Did a reverse image search and found the original image of the anime girl from the card at least:

Okay, could be a long shot, but I think I found the info. Doing some research on the image alone and apparently, it's from a "Key game" or PC Adult visual novel and 2005 Kyoto anime called "AIR". The image I found in questions is part of a wallpaper series called "Bird's poem".

So yeah, man. You may have some hentai. lol If you want, I could try and scan out any contents for ya, but I dunno if my mag reader would work with that card. (For... um... preservation... and science.... yeah...   )

It could be the non-adult Bishojo game, as the wikipedia info states that there are adult "versions".

But... I mean... there's only one way to find out. lol

Am I the only one jealous that they made memory cards for arcade machines in Japan? Anyhow back on topic if nothing else it's an interesting piece for a collection and since it says PC on the back it could have been something that came only with a game series.

I never heard about any NeoGeo ones, but it's possible that they imported some.  I know some reasonably close arcades imported some fighting game(s) that used them and also imported a bunch of cards as well, so perhaps it's something like that?  I know that NFL Blitz (I think?) had a setup where you could plug in your N64 memory card with data from the same/home game and keep up with your stats and such back and forth.  Not quite the exact same thing, but still.  There was also an arcade game that I never saw working and only saw in person a handful of times in the mid 80s that had a cassette interface so you could save and reload your progress as you played.  Maybe a precursor to the true memory cards?

The idea with neo geo was you have an AES at home, you can take your memory card to the arcade and continue in your metal slug run or vice versa

So maybe more in line with the Blitz cabinets than the "true" proprietary-agnostic cards used in most Japanese arcades?

Wasn't there an F Zero or something in Triforce arcade machines that had a memory card thing or did I dream that up?

I think I can recall some sort of N64 memory card thing on the Blitz cabs too... They had them at Walmart stores along with one of the popular racing games on N64 (Rush, Crus'n USA/World/Exotica... one of those)

My best friend and I wished they'd done it with Gauntlet too, but oh well.  Managed to find this old thread which shows a photo of the side of the machine and the N64 card reader that they'd have attached.  Apparently it was Blitz '99 and not "NFL Blitz" that utilized them.
