I was just wondering if anyone had any information on this box that I picked up at a pawn shop in my town. I found some old threads on NA talking about it, and an old auction thread. I'm just looking for whatever information anyone can give me. Any idea on exactly how rare it is, what kind of value does it hold, why was it changed, etc.

I don't think I've seen a straight answer about this alt. box art on an NA thread, lol. They tend to spiral out of control. I can say that i've never seen one in person, the artwork is beautiful, and they are much rarer. CIB, in good shape (your box looks pretty nice overall) is at least $300, and that's conservative.

The box itself is in fairly good shape. There is some writing in pen on one of the inner flaps, some kind of serial number or password. The flaps are all intact, and there is some slight creasing in the main flaps and the front of the box. It's missing the manual, and I would go back to the shop and complain (because they assured me it was there) if it weren't such a good find. Does anyone think it'd worth the investment to buy a manual on eBay? The cart and tray are in very nice condition.

Zombies uses 4-letter continue codes, both of those look accurate.

I haven't decided whether I want to sell it or not yet. I consider myself a collector, so it's hard to part with something so rare. On the other hand, I could really use some money for college... 300 dollars sounds like some books or some money towards a laptop.

If you're looking to sell...keep me in mind. Zombies is one of my all time favorite games and this has been on the top of my want list for a long time. I actually sold something real valuable for books earlier this year haha

They were indeed made in Mexico. Out of the same material that was used for the Final Fight Guy orange box, super bomberman small box. And the SNES display boxes. White on the inside and almost impossible to find without a crease or any damage. They just did not hold up well. The one you have looks nicer than most of the ones I've seen. I'd say at least 300$ + and yea spend 30$ and get yourself a CI since they were all the same anyway. If you sell it I'm almost positive you won't find another in that good of condition. They do show up like Jone said , I've got one myself. Not the rarest box .But not exactly common.

Didn't one go up for auction last year end at $400 - $450, or am I dreaming again?

Either way, I love that box art over the original release. Awesome find sir.

It's a really cool oddity, I really wish they had used that box art on the game and manual as well, the normal art is terrible.

It's possible but the last one I know of just went over $300 in good shape. I know because I lost by a couple bucks haha and before that I saw a little rougher box only go for like 200 or something like that.

They've sold as high as $450-$500 but sales since then were in the $300-$350 range.

This Sunday I am going to show it to a collector friend of mine, and see what he thinks. He may offer to buy it, and if he has a decent offer and cash in hand, I will probably sell it. Otherwise, I will come back and probably auction it off here. Thanks for the information guys. If anyone else knows anything, I'd like to learn as much as possible.

That is a really cool cover, nice find. Love that game, even though I could never beat the giant spider boss.
