On November 3rd, I'll be playing games for 24 hours to raise funds for sick kids at my local children's hospital!



What is Extra Life?
 

• Extra Life is a 24-hour fundraising and gaming marathon to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
• On Game Day (Nov. 3rd), I will join the thousands of gamers and dedicate an entire day to play games and get donations from friends like YOU!
• 100% of the donations go to my local hospital. TOGETHER we will make a difference for sick kids!

This year, my goal is to raise $1500 for my local childrens' hospital Sick Kids.

I have a few things coming down the pipe closer to the November 3rd Game Day where I plan to play games for 24 hours straight, including some super secret stuff a couple of you already know about, and others will find out about soon enough!

In the meantime though, specifically for this month (July) I will be broadcasting gameplay on Twitch as I go for high scores on Phalanx, Qbert 3, and Super Smash TV on the Super Nintendo (using my Super NT!) for the SNES Monthly Contest!

Schedule

The following is a tentative schedule for the day. If people donate they are welcome to make game requests, so I may take breaks on the full playthrough games (EVO and Hellblade) to play requests if they pop up. Things can be pretty fluid, I just like to have a general plan so I have some checkpoints along the way.

Update: I am taking requests! If you make a donation of any size, you can include a game request and I will do my best to play the game of your choice. $5, $10, whatever, I'll play for longer based on donation size, but anything helps and I'll at least give your request a proper go!

Donated 50$. I understood this is a 24hour thing, so do with it as you may, but I'd like to see you try beat either Bump N Jump for NES or Bird Week for Famicom for the "Can NA Beat Every NES Game In A Year - 2018"-thread.

Fyi Nov 3 is the 24 hour marathon, but I do Twitch streams a few times a week, and can definitely arrange to play sometime when you're around to watch, if you like!

I'm in Europe so I don't know how easy it is arrange time if you're in America, but I'll gladly watch a archived twitch stuff too. I know you've beaten some tough games in the past so I'd wonder if you could beat one of them. I think they might be too much for me, haha.

I plan to dedicate some time on game day to Svankmajer's request for the generous donation!

Would anyone else like to request a game for Game Day on Nov 3? Any size donation gets you a request for me to broadcast, and especially generous donations will be featured on the 24 hour stream!

I have a few games that I plan to slot in, but having requests really helps to get a good plan in place!

Cool Gloves. Bump N Jump was just very recently beaten fot the NES thread, but Bird Week is still up for grabs. (I think its a game thats close to impossible to beat though.)
You could swap it for any game on the thread not beaten if you want.

I'm thinking I'll play Bird Week to start (though I know it's basically impossible - let's call it for fun), and if (when) I don't beat it, we can move onto another game on the NES thread remaining list. If I don't succeed in beating a game for the contest during Game Day, I'll make sure to take it offline and get something done for ol' Svankmajer for being good people.

Currently I have two "full playthrough" games: EVO Search for Eden and Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. EVO is a relaxing game, so I wanna get it done earlier in the day, while Hellblade is a bit more action-packed so will hopefully help me stay up through the long night.

I also have slots on there for featuring some homebrew games I have on hand, so those should be fun! Wanna give some shoutouts to the cool folks who make these things happen!

There's a slot on there as well for some Overwatch. Always a fun time, and if any of you who are planning to join me on Game Day have the game and want to play with me and my wife, let me know! I figure a few hours on there should be nice.

I think that's a great list so far! I love to see the homebrew games, as that is a great way to play and also introduce those to people, as opposed to having us watch someone play tetris or mario 1 again. Nothing *wrong* with that per se, but this stuff will be much more interesting.

Cool, Gloves. When does this stream start european time? I want to see your Bird Week/Nes thread session if I can make it.

I hope to start at 7 or 8am EST, so going by UTC time (5 hours ahead of me) it'd be noon or 1pm. If you're gonna be around lemme know what time would work and I will happily rearrange.

Hey all! Still going strong 8 hours in! Come join me on Twitch as I finish off the last chapter of EVO: Search for Eden on the SNES! Following that I will be playing Spook-O-Tron! Still another 16 hours to go so come say hi to keep me sane!

I just wanted to say congratulations as the event went really well and raised a lot of money for a good cause! Also, it was a lot of fun! I wasn't able to catch as much of it as I would have liked (would have loved to see the picross and spook-o-tron parts!), but I had a great time while I was there.

Also, thank you for doing this. I know you've spent a lot of time preparing for it and dedicated a lot of hours to this event, not to mention the 24 hours straight (not sure I could even do that). It really shows a lot of dedication and it's great to see a gaming event with a positive impact. Thanks to you and everyone else who helped make this thing work and of course the donors for supporting the cause!

I love to see events like this and it's great to see gamers and collectors coming together to support and be a part of something.

I was actually going to check in and see how everything went I left the bar last night and ended up not coming back on. We had fun! It was really cool too see this go to a good cause!
