That SMB/DH/WCTM one definitely intrigues me... Perhaps you can shoot the dog? Or perhaps the other runners in WCTM? How awesome would it be to be able to put a bullet into Cheetah's back as he is outrunning you!?

1st party protos seem to very very rarely pop up.
This should be interesting!

Same two items, but they have been split up.

Well, I'll admit that I was skeptical at first, but since the boards look real to me, I'm going to be watching these very closely.

Yeah should be fun to watch for sure, wish I had money to grab one myself. Definitely would make for a great conversation piece.

If I were rich I'd so beat the crap out of people over getting SMB2. A lot of haters hate after learning 'the truth' but it's still one of my favorite games on the NES.

We shall see where this goes. I hope they go to someone here, especially if they are the "real deal".

Check out this really awesome WTB thread that I found, I heard this guy wants games at the cheapest rate possible!  Now on the look out for Unlicensed NES!

A ton...easily mid- to upper-triple digits, possibly into four digits.  First-party Nintendo protos almost never show up, as Nintendo was very strict on their distribution and returning them for recycling (they'd reuse the chips and boards for more protos).  And please correct me if I'm wrong, DreamTR or one of the Nolan bros., but isn't that the first SMB/DH/WCTM proto to turn up?

I was high bidder on these for atleast a few minutes... ha ha. But no doubt these will go well out of my price range. I'd really love to see what is on them though so hopefully someone here at NA has these in there sights and budget.

The mario 2 one looks a bit fishy, but the SMB/DH/WCTM is the real deal!

That is the first SMB/DH/WCTM to show up and I'd be surprised if there was anything different on it other than a title screen if that.SMB 2 that's the second or third to show up. Paul Hogger (holy crap old school) had one ages ago not sure if he still does...

You don't think the spelling mistake is fishy?  Or that all the chips came from 2 years before the production release?

If one is fishy then both are suspect.  The EPROMs are from the same production week and the handwriting on them is likely the same person.

bunny: chips don't really make a difference, they use whatever they had....the labels are very very similar to the ones they sent out (1987-1988 games) to Europe...I have Alpha Mission and a few others similar to those....if you're going to go all out, it wouldn't be on Mario/DH/WCTM and also, that came had been in development for awhile with a bundle after FFF was taken off, they could have just waited until a prime time to release stuff...heck, I have a Ghost Lion proto with an extra number for the year because it was pushed back a year and nothing was changed from the year it sat on shelves...we just don't know with development.

Also, again, you have a guy who stated they came from a retired Nintendo employee and he's got 6000+ feedback...if he was to make a proto, he would do Zelda or something, not a 3 in 1, lol

I see nothing that makes me think either prototype is anything but legitimate. As Dream mentioned earlier, this is the second SMB2 and first 3-1 that I know of. I don't want to speculate an end price (as I don't want to inflate anything for a potential winner), but they certainly wont be cheap.

As others have said, pretty tough to dispute that these are likely legit. As Dream mentioned, if someone happened to have an extra SJEPROM Development board and was looking to make a fake proto, why choose the 3-1?

As to who makes a run at these, I have an idea of someone who may be interested...

Should be fun to watch!

I wouldn't be so sure.  There's was a similar looking SMB2 prototype that had numerous differences.  The date on the cart makes me wonder if the same changes will be present, but it's certainly a possibility.
