What surprises me about this is it seems OP had no clue about those recent sales. That means that this is now a 3rd (or is it 4th?!) one to come up for sale this year and the guys not even jumping on a bandwagon. This is great!

Also, PowerPlayers, that's a nice chart. Have you also tried to track there locations? Maybe where these carts are now and where they came from when they were first reported? It' be interesting to see a map where all of these were located from their earliest dates.

I know there was one in Asheville NC when game Xcape was open. Just closed. The owner had one ,no protection but in good shape) on display that was not for sale. Only one Ive ever seen... I'm not sure his name, but I can find out if there's no record of it and it would help.

I wonder if it was included with the rest of the goods in his shop when he sold it.  Doubtful but maybe.

Well I posted about this when it happend some may remember. But I saw the store listed for 25000 on Craigslist of all places. I don’t think he sold that cart in that lot. I don’t know he sold the lot at all before time on the building ran out. He was an OG collector around here, I’m sure he didn’t do anything too dumb with it.

Ah, ok. Good to hear he was connected to the community outside of locals. I know I mentioned it before, but I had been there once before on a stay in Asheville and had made it a plan to make it a regular stop, but he'd closed up before I got the chance for a second visit.

He's lilely burnt out after being in the business, but if you ever run into the guy, see if you can pull him into here. This place xan always use a bit more OG.

I've been away from the collecting community for a long time. Just poke my head in every now and then to see where price might be at with the NWC cart. I was in contact with someone from Heritage Auctions recently who sent me a link to a recently ended auction they hosted for a gray cart that sold for $26,000 with fee's. That cart wasn't in as good of shape as mine. Then i saw that one had sold here, also very recently, for $42,000. That cart was in better shape than mine. I also know thats high end for this item.

I don't think I'm out of line to shoot for somewhere between those two. Doesn't mean I'll get it, but I can try, just so you know what I'm looking for price wise. I'll be honest, anything below the Heritage auction isn't going to work. I've owned this for 17 years and it only seems to be going up in value. I'm not hard up for the money. I could use it of course. It has also struck me as sad the past years thats it's just been sitting in a vault.

The cart has been in a safety deposit box for the last 7 years. It's a credit union with those odd hours, like 10- 4 pm that aren't convenient for anyone but the retired. I'll try to run down there and take more pics of it. I have the tool to open the cart. I might even take it home to video it working if I can work out the timing. Then properly list it here in the sellers forum.

I'm going to take this slow so I make sure I do it right. Any advice is still very welcome. Of course anyone who wants to blow me away with an offer please do so.

Mike

P.S.  I start work at 3pm est and get home around 1 am. today and i also work Saturday.  If I don't reply quicly please know thats why, also I work in a place where I can't easily communicate.
I paid under the auction price at Heritage Auctions for my Grey NWC ,and it too looks better than that cart and mine is NOT graded ..That being said I too would not accept under $26K for my cart ,if I were ever to list it for sale ..So I think you are being reasonable for not wanting to accept less than the one that recently sold on the Heritage Auction website ..Your cart looks to be in good condition,I don’t think you will have any problems finding it a new home ..A word of advice I would send your cart for grading at Wata ,to get more money for the sale ..

Any chance I can have an unwatermarked photo for the archive? I can promise not to share that image and mark it as private. I've got a few in my archive like that already.

Also, regarding condition: This one is about par the course as far as NWCs go.
  • Average, possibly moderate amount of glue "bleed" / mottling
  • Average amount of yellowing to label borders
  • Average, possibly moderate amount of yellowing throughout the label
  • Average condition of cartridge case
  • Great condition of overall label (no major scuffs or scratches visible without light source)

I never  stated that it was “against the law to own more the one”NWC ..But from what I hear you are  seeming wanting to monopolize Grey NWC ownership, including coming into possession of some other carts in ways that would place your integrity into question ..

Yes I'm definitely trying to monopolize the NWC market by wanting to own more than one..... give me a break. I've had two at my peak, far from a monopoly. Maybe once I may have mentioned that I would love to get as many Nwc as I can,But the important part of the conversation didn't get translated. My goal was to try and keep as many NWC inside of OUR community as possible. I'm not really sure if you noticed, but the price of NWC has gone up considerably because of outsiders coming into our market and driving prices up.

I sold my first nwc earlier this year to fund another project. Now that my money is back in my hands I'm ready to purchase a new one. In what ways did I come into possession of any of the carts that placed my integrity into question?. My first cartridge, the 260 cartridge, was traded to me by a friend for $15,000 worth of trade. After getting my first cartridge I was looking to upgrade to a cleaner copy. I wanted a clean label. So I went ahead and purchased cart number 185 for $20,000. I have a deep passion for anything NWC related. I own a decent amount of NWC memorabilia, not just carts. I'm probably one of the most aggressive people that goes after anything with them NWC logo on it. So I'm not sure where the miscommunication of my integrity comes into play, It may be because I actively look for cartridges for other people. You know, I'm not the only person that is interested in a NWC cartridge and I have a lot more time on my hands than most people to do the hunting.

So before anyone goes and starts believing anything that Viper might have to say about the transaction that we were trying to make. Maybe people should look for the facts first. I was more than fair with him. I gave him months to come up with the cash and he kept trying to get me to take trade. I told him I'd take 10k , the stadium events, and as a cherry on top I wanted his sealed dmg Gameboy. I think that was a pretty fair trade. I mean who is going to trade down from a NWC to a stadium events. Not very many people.

So say what you will Mr. NES Connoisseur. There's absolutely nothing wrong with owning multiple NWC. As I know many people that do. But when you go and Publicly put out that you're questioning my integrity. I would like to know a reason why. Because those are fighting words where I come from and I don't take that shit lightly.

Also a quick ad, didn't you go by a different name a few months ago on here? That's the only thing I would question. Someone coming on Nintendo age with a new name and then not even a few months later changing their name. Seems sketchy to me. For all I know you're probably Bryan Greenlee....

Lol ..My name is not “Bryan Greenlee “,nor do I know who that is ..But a whole lot of folks on here change their online names ..But before you accuse someone of being “sketchy “maybe you should consider your practice of “back dooring “folks for shit ..

I'm working it getting it listed for offer on this site sometimes in the next week. I keep getting advice to have it graded first, but then there's the original problem I posted about, will probably just try myself here in the sellers forum and see how it goes.
