Picked up a box of random video game stuff and with it was a original xbox. Not fimilar at all with them but it looks modded? Anyone know what the red and black wires would be used for?

I'm going to assume it's hard modded. But honestly, I'm not sure, I only have experience with soft modding Xbox consoles. I can't even figure out what that mod might even be.

Looks like Audio cables

I have heard of ppl using Xbox's as media hubs for cars systems. Could be what that is.

I know some people used these for the home media device. They would load it up with tons of music and movies and put a huge hard drive in it. Then the audio cord would run out of it like that into their main surround sound system. That is probably what this is to be honest.

Would make no sense to send only audio out from an xbox. You need to see what you're doing to play anything. Seems like the power to the HD is being split and sent somewhere else. Only thing I've seen close to this was a lighting mod that was sharing power with the HD.

Yes, I dealt with my fair share of both hard and soft modded xboxes a few years back.

I agree with this, looks like it taps into the power cables to the hard drive.
