Through communications with other members on NA, we feel it's about time for a thread/topic to give love to the system that predates the almighty Nintendo. Yes, Atari. Whether it be various computers, 2600, 5200, or 7800, let us gush about our love for these fantastic systems and games!

Edit:  Atari High Scores

I would play my Atari but I think it's busted. It was my parents Atari, and when they told me they had one as a kid my eyes lit up. They thought I wouldn't like it because it was old.

I've got about fifty carts as of right now:

I've been enjoying it tremendously. Games are cheap, and as I get older I find myself with less and less time on my hands for gaming. When I have 20 minutes to kill it's easy to just pop a cart in, play a few rounds and be done. Also they look nice sorted by color

Yes, Bert, yes. I was an Atari hater at a point in my life. It was all too simple and basic. Now I bask in the glory of popping a game in and living that time for just a few minutes. Arcade and Atari games are kings at this. There is never not an excuse to pop in an Atari game and play for a minute. Like in my other thread that spawned this one, having a few minutes and wanting to waste time is completely solved by a Tv and an Atari on the kitchen counter. And it's so simple and basic small children can play, enjoy, and see the rewards of their labor.

To me, NES was the ultimate... but Atari appeals to everyone. Your baby to your grandparents can pick up the controller, understand it and have fun. It's not arcade perfect, but everyone gets it.

I have a complete loose 7800 set with several variants; I'll snap a pic when I get a minute.

Have tons of 2600, sold my 5200 since I never really played it, and I'll likely sell my XE for the same reason.

Most of my Atari games came from one lot, meant to be a Christmas present from my parents, but since we had to test them we'd hooked up a TV in the basement and tossed them in one by one. One of my favorite memories with Atari was all the seizure inducing light shows happening in the darkness of the basement after finishing a level, that and spending an hour trying to make end labels for a bunch of them.

Also, I just got a cool Atari hat out of a trade that I'll be wearing to any yard sales I go to.

 Atari's great

Edit: Also a super young dude has a sweet Atari collection. Hnngh... Good on you!

I should trade one of my Battletoads/Double Dragon NES carts for Atari games. If anyone is interested, PM me!

Let me just say that Slot Racers was the original Super Mario Kart Battle Mode for my brother and I. Once we figured out that you could steer your bullets, it was ON!

I have 75 2600 carts and 11 7800 carts. I play more 2600 then any other system these days. I'm currently working on trying to achieve Activision patch scores. I have accomplished this with Frostbite and Robot Tank so far.

I didn't have any Atari consoles growing up, but they were always around me.

Biggest interest is the 7800. Have a single console, 3-4 pro-line controllers, and the CX-78 (euro controller), Slowly getting to a full loose set (stuck at 44 right now). This console has really grown on me.

I have a boxed 5200, including a boxed track ball controller, and three games for it. Still haven't tested the damn thing.

I have about 40 2600 games, pretty well-cultivated grouping of classics. Very little filler. Lots of Activision in there. Don't have a 2600, though I have a bunch of OEM and third-party controllers. Use the 7800 for those.

Also, any INTV love? Love the library, hate the controllers.

Thanks!   Actually had those same holders growing up, so I knew I had to use those to display.   Plus they already have the mounting holes in the back and they interlock, so very easy to hang up.

Just one of those would hold my entire 7800 collection if I threw out doubles.
Exactly 14 unique titles.

I grew up playing a few games on my Moms Atari 2600. I liked Kaboom, Frogger, and Warlords. My brother liked Volleyball and Barnstorming but I didn't really care for those. We used to play the Jedi Arena gane against each other. We had a couple others like some Breakout clones, ET, and Pitfall. Pretty sure it's all still at my Moms, I'll have to dig it out sometime.

Oh, and I can't leave out Vanguard :-D
