As some of you may have noticed, there's a new "Page Moderator" link located at the bottom right of every post. This was added (back) to allow people to effectively "page" all moderators and administrators to a thread where something negative is occurring.

I want to assure you that the feature works, so please do not "test" it -- 14 people get an email to their personal email addresses when you use this.

Examples of when to use this:

- People are starting a flame war
- People are getting scammed
- People are spamming the boards

There are likely other reasons to use this, but this should be a good start. Think of it as a 911 call on NA -- if you call, we'll be coming in droves, so make sure it's an emergency.

-Dain

I wanted to quote this for reinforcement, as we've already had three users do this. You know who you are.

Good point...I'm sure somebody will accidently click it trying to hit "Quote" or "Reply"...is there a way to either make it sit further away, or have a "confirm" selection afterwards?

Just as some people accidentally call 911. If there isn't a confirmation (which I'm assuming there is, I don't want to test it out though) then there really should be one.

^that is a great idea to have a confirm message after it is hit just to filter out mistakes. probably would save lots of time on the mods behalf as well.

Yeah, I think a box should pop up with an "Are you Sure?" type of thing just to make sure you didnt click it by accident, as it is fairly close to reply and quote. Either that or move it to the opposate side away from everything.

Overally really great idea to be able to contact all the mods.

I am sure we will have "false alarms" but this is a great tool to help the admins/mods. This way we can police the boards and not have the need for other members to get caught up in stuff with ensuing flame wars.

Big question: If we'd like a mod to lock a thread for it being a finished auction, a new replacement thread, etc., should we use it?

With the page moderator button, does it let you type in a reason for the flagging? I don't know if any mod would have known Perfect's cart was a fake if someone had only flagged the post. Could it be possible to submit a reason for the paging of the mods?

Please, no. It's an emergency line. It doesn't take the entire moderation and administration to do forum janitorial work like this.

When you click the link, a new window opens up allow you to enter a comment. Once you submit the comment, the emails are sent. So in other words, just clicking the link doesn't do anything -- you have to submit the popup form.
