Hello everyone, welcome to the NintendoAge N64 completion thread of 2015. This year, I will be the host of the thread, and I will keep track of what you're all doing. After three years, the N64 completion was never done, but we can work for it happening this year. We can do it !

Past threads:

2014 hosted by cheaterdragon1 - 111/303 games completed
(http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&am... )
2013 hosted by Krunch - 138/296 games completed
(http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&am... )
2012 hosted by leatherrebel5150 - 115/296 games completed
(http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=31&am... )

Instructions:

All you need to do is to begin and finish a game in 2015, and post about it in this thread. You can't beat a game that you already started in 2014. I would like people to post a picture of the ending screen, but it is OK without one also. Having a picture is really appreciated. The first person who finishes a game gets one point. This means that if you finish a game someone already done, you don't get a point, but you still can tell us about your experience with it. Something new this year, inspired by the 2014 SNES completion thread, when you conclude a game which was never done the three years before, you win points for all the years it was not complete. The member who gets the largest number of points wins a secret CIB N64 game at the end of this year. When you post about the game you've just finished, don't be afraid to tell other members how it was... If it was the best experience or the worst, tell us... We need to keep the thread active all the year. We're doing both NTSC and PAL releases, total being 303 games.

Rules:

- You must begin and finish the game in 2015.
- No cheats and no Gameshark codes.
- Saving and using continues is okay. You can use password saves assuming the game gave you the password and you didn't look it up.
- Emulators are accepted, but don't use the functions of them to beat a game.
- Virtual Console is accepted.
- No ports or remakes.
- NTSC and PAL releases only.
- PAL games that are not on the list are worth two bonus points each and do not count on the total score (303).

Games remaining:

*: If there is a little star, go at the end of the post to see what you need to do for completing these no endings games.
/: If there is a slash, go at the end of the post to see what you need to do for completing these specific games.

Hmmm... I have 3 N64 games: Daikatana, Space Station Silicon Valley and Indiana Jones. I'll try! (I need a system first).

I'm actually a few hours away from beating OoT, my first time picking it up in about five years. I can wait till Thursday to beat it if that would help give the N64 list a jump start. Or does it have to be brand new files starting in 2015? If so the top post needs to be updated to say so.

Yeah, it has to be started in 2015 to count. That definitely needs to be edited. Shall we implement a points system this year? I liked the one they used for the SNES thread last year where it's worth an extra point for each year it wasn't completed. I'm totally ok with either format, though.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-
Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

I will do this. It is one point for every game, and one point for each year it has not been done before. Is it alright ?

By the way, the thread is officially open in 2015. You cannot start a game today. I posted it a day before just to see if there were things to perfect, to see people's opinions... etc.

Yeah. So a game that has never been completed (like most of the sports games that don't have blitz in their titles) would be worth 4, and so on and so forth. This should offer incentive for knocking out some those less desirable games early on.

How do the fighters work? Just any 1 char and any difficulty?

And if we have the info, can we keep track of the date beat also?

Yes and yes. A high difficulty would be better, but it works for any of them.

Actually I am killing time doing all the side quest stuff now (Skulltulas, Heart Pieces, Poes, that damn 4th bottle and the Golden Gauntlets).  I could have beaten it yesterday easily but I stalled to get everything.  For some reason I found the Water Temple much easier than I remember it being.  I also accidentally beat the temples out of order (if it's possible), doing Shadow Temple before Spirit Temple.  That was kinda fun.

I'm actually a few hours away from beating OoT, my first time picking it up in about five years. I can wait till Thursday to beat it if that would help give the N64 list a jump start. Or does it have to be brand new files starting in 2015? If so the top post needs to be updated to say so.

LOL Damn, I just finished the Water Temple. We have to be pretty close.

Sweet, we are sort of doing the same thing, catching up on some side quests myself. I actually took a crack at the Water Temple without a guide. It took me some time since is my first play through, but I found it very rewarding at the end. I checked the guide afterwards to make sure I didn't miss any Gold Skatulas. I am also struggling on the 4th bottle. I have not started the Golden Gauntlets. My guess, you will beat me done by a mile as I don't have a lot of time to play, maybe 30 minutes -1 hour a day right now and I play other games as well in that time.

If you get all the Gold Skulltulas in a temple there is an icon that shows it.  On the temple map it will show a picture of a gold skulltula right next to the name of the temple.  That indicates you have them all in that location.  It also works the same for the overworld map.  For instance I have them all in Hyrule Field, but not in Lon Lon Ranch yet.  It's very convenient actually.  I don't remember how to get the Golden Gauntlets offhand but I'm sure going through all the side-quests I'll figure it out.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Quick question, but what counts as "beating" Mario Kart?
Getting gold for every cup in all CCs? Or just one? Or what?

What's an Apple Pippin?
Remember in the Fellowship of the Ring when Aragorn threw that piece of fruit and hit him in the head after asking for second breakfast?  Yeah, that's an apple.

I think it's all cups gold on 150 cc because when you do that, you get the different title screen, which I always associated with beating the game.

General rule: If it gets you to the end credits, you beat the game.  It's beating the game that matters, not 100% completing it

But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Yeah. So a game that has never been completed (like most of the sports games that don't have blitz in their titles) would be worth 4, and so on and so forth. This should offer incentive for knocking out some those less desirable games early on.

I also think there should be a point system.  But some of them should get instant 1s no matter what.  Fighting games for example.  It doesn't look like UMK was beat last year, but it still should be 1 point this year.

I will admit though I'm biased though, and think of beating fighters as too easy.

One question: is the start at midnight NA time, as it likely should be (both to be in line with the other thread(s) AND to keep things consistent across the board, whether you live in San Fransisco or Oslo), or is there some other designated "official" starting point?
