What do you guys think?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Flintstone...

People are going to buy these and then wait a while and sell them as original.

I just looked at his other items and he is selling custom boxes and manuals for Bonks, Panic Restaaurant, Little Samson, Ducktales 2 and others.

It says custom, no one at ebay is going to stop that as it's not being sold as a misleading fraud of an original.

Reported each one of his "custom" boxes and manuals.

I'm not saying that he is being fraudulent as he is listing them as custom. What I am saying is that people are going to buy his custom boxes and manuals and then sell them later as originals to try and scam people.

Oh I know. It's just that it seems weekly people point out guys like this one doing labels mostly, but also boxes and manuals. For awhile everyone got into group ebay flagging, yet nothing ever got removed. I think things have just moved to the point where with ebay uncaring of the matter, someone will either get hosed with a copy cat or someone will legit place it with their game but you never know and that's the issue the mystery of it.

Ya, it sucks that these kinds of things are so common now that people who actually think their fakes are real and try to sell them as real. Then they get into problems because they had no idea it was fake when they bought it themselves. It is really sad.

Are there any way to tell that these are not the real deal? How do you spot a 'custom' box or manual as to not buy these when they come up on craigslist, in stores etc.

Yeah this seller has already been mentioned on here before (can't find the thread). They've been doing it for at least a week or two now. Luckily the print quality is fairly poor, a good eye can easily tell that is a fake.

You're right. Their Contra 'custom' box is looking a little reddish orange:

Unmatching manual/box colors, saturation/lightness of colors, poor assembly, oversized inner manual pages, box similarities to the Cover Project files, manuals made up with scans from Nintendo Age (look at Little Samson) white cardboard instead of the traditional brown stock cardboard, glossy finish, wrong logos, fuzzy fonts, etc., etc.

I see. It's definitely not blatantly obvious, but you just have to compare it to the real thing. With the Little Samson box that this guy is selling for example:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Little-Sam...

The colors are way more saturated than on the real box. Thanks for the response Vladictivo.

Litte Samson is very easy to tell, just look at the spine (wrong Nintendo logo, to say the least):

Look at the right front edge of that flintstones box.  He can't even print his own box to get it to fold correctly.

I need for a Sculptor's Cut and Stunt Racer 64 manual - final two for the collection!

Yea, If custom labels weren't enough to look for, now we got to look out for these. Luckily there's a way to tell they are fake. I would at least appreciate it if they had reproduction SOMEWHERE on the box and manual. This is a perfect trap for any unexperienced collector looking for a complete game.

The auction description says it's waterproof.

Anyone want to toss a glass of water on their Dino Peak box and see if the originals are waterproof too?

Mine is too nice to try it on

Besides I don't think mine is waterproof anyways. Ya know what... maybe I'll toss out my shitty non waterproof boxes for his new state of the art waterproof ones. For $20 bucks, how could I go wrong?

Well this would be a great addition to any CIB collector that didn't feel comfortable spending the cash for an original.

Its not custom its reproduction, he uses the word custom to get around ebay policy but it doesnt change what hes really selling.

Listings should be pulled.

Someone should message this guy and state that they tossed out their old Flintstones box, in favor of his waterproof one.
