Anyone on here done this I'm curious to how they grade and what the cost might be. Any feedback is welcome

I believe all protos are No Grade (NG). I also believe their "experts" aren't very good with verifying protos and you'd probably just get better results from members here. They basically just incase it and make it look pretty for some $$$.

Kinda what I figured I only ask because I just got some normal cases and I don't want the label being messed up from time

Which N64 proto is it? The tomb of a VGA case is a bit to permanent. I have been looking to buy a proto. You could always sell it to me and I could send you pictures from time to time...lol

Sprocket/ rocket robot on wheels thanks for the offer but I've always loved the n64 prototypes and this one is by far the coolest I've  Seen  so I doubt it leaves my collection ever

I assume since you bought it, you are sure it's authentic. As for the label, you can purchase cases through VGA. I'm sure the label will be fine as long as you take care of it. I personally like a little age showing on proto labels. Some of mine have some yellowing and I prefer that over looking new.

Label is the main reason I bought this one

While I encourage preservation, a little label damage will probably not affect the value. I keep mine in hard plastic cases. That way I can get to them to play them.

Here is a very thorough explanation of vga and prototypes:

TL;DR: It is unclear who the experts are authenticating these prototypes.

I wouldn't trust the grading from VGA. At one point they verified some Atari 800 "prototypes" that were actually repros.

The best action to preserve a prototype is to make a backup of the data. Prototype carts are not designed for long term data storage, and the flash ROMs that were used in the 90s are not exactly reliable (just ask anyone who collects Nintendo Power carts). Though if you want to protect the physical cart, getting a plastic case to put it in is definitely a good idea.
