Well, the heads up is very much appreciated. I always kind of wondered how you guys did it without ads. No beef here.

I know you're not looking for ideas, but I always thought a donation per transaction would work well. $1 for purchases $1-25, $2 for $25-$50, $3 for $50-100, and so on.

I know it would be hard to keep track of, but people are making money from transactions, they should send NA a cut.

Just wondering what the metrics would be (how much $ per transaction) would cover the costs for the site...

I'm pretty sure the concept of transaction fees has been discussed many times before, and several reasons were presented why that was either not feasible or not desired, not to mention the additional work and cost with getting all of that setup and functional. That isn't to say conceptually it is a bad idea or anything, but I believe the idea has been explored and discussed and it was not a direction Dain and the admins wanted to go. I can't speak for them directly, but I'm pretty sure that has been off-the-table for a while now.

Whatever you gotta do to keep the site up sounds good to me Dain.

Agreed. Dain's let us use this platform scot-free, so if anyone feels that this is a good way to chip-in, go for it!  

Not that it should be an obligation, but if anyone thinks they can't afford it, they could just add a percentage to the overall and state the extra's going toward charitable reasons. I think people'll be willing to chip in a small bit extra if it's for a good cause, and the person that's selling won't be out anything if that's the worry. Just a suggestion though. 



 

Hopefully this will draw a bit more attention back to the Patreon to help cover the gap a bit.

Everything online has ads or clickbait articles. You have to do what you have to do...

I don't think anything is up yet, but Dain mentioned game listings (where all the info for a game is) and inbox.

Maybe for April Fool's, I should add 50 ads to each page.

I'd put a 728x90 up on the top of the Latest Posts and let the impressions roll in.

this is my concern as well. I used to whitelist a few places I trusted but they kept fucking it up so it's a blanket ban now.

is that what we're talking about here, integrating ad networks? or like individual curated sponsors? I'd whitelist the the second option assuming everything is still under dain's control.

I get that it's a last resort situation Dain.  Thanks for riding it out this long.  I'd too would rather see ad's than have NA vanish.

I legit couldn't tell there was an ad when I clicked on Dain's link. I actually had to look for it, and it doesn't take away from the site at all. 10/10!

Right there with ya, not corny at all. So far I have met some great people! Besides a majority of what goes on in the contest threads is far more entertaining  

Fine with me... as long as there are no porn ads or, even worse, ads with audio! I've just whitelisted NA as well. The comments about malware have me a bit worried though.
The Patreon page shows NA currently at $400/$650 per month - I take it then that we're only $250/month short of hitting the approximate monthly server expense?

Patreon shows me less than $400 a month! I just put up $10 a month and will gladly click on any porn / audio add, if that's what needs to happen to keep NA up and running !
