NGD took the cover photo, and I tweaked it in Photoshop a bit.

And why are we thanking Matt for steven78's collection pic being inserted?

Oops, I meant thank Kevin and Stan -- we were talking about Matt, and it just stuck.

Glad some of you enjoyed mine, for some reason it didn't float my boat. And the cover pic was mine per Kevin's request. Surprised it turned out as good as it did, my camera sucks. I think K-Han done quite a bit of photoshop clean up on it.

Hey...I have an extra icon under my name...cool . Wait a sec: does that mean I have to write one *every* month? I mean, it's not all the time I get on a roll and talk forever . I could probably do for every other month or so, maybe more of a "special guest writer" sort of thing...

Nope, you're roped in now, sucker!!! J/K -- it just means you've contributed as a writer... you don't have to do one every month, but every now and then would be great.

I actually used to enjoy Dyas of Thunder and played it quite a lot (way more than 1 hour). It's a very challenging game (hard to get #1 spot) and the pitstops are a nice break. But I did enjoy the article and agree with most in it, except that DoT cannot be the worst game on the NES.

There's no doubt - every game in the library is fun to someone. I bet countless children have whiled away dozens of hours guiding the baby jesus on assback past falling rocks. But that doesn't make King of Kings a good game by any real level of comparison.

Certain genres appeal to individuals, sometimes themes (like a slick action movie) can add a deeper dimension to an otherwise bland game. But these are marketing aspects that lead customers to project on top of a game; licensing a movie "adds value" to an otherwise boring lap-racing game. I think it's grand that you enjoy this game. Let me tell you, I enjoy some real stinkburgers too (I always had a soft spot for Mystery Quest in particular) but that doesn't make it good in comparison to other games, on any sort of impartial way.

You know...you guys all talk about playing your games... The only ones I really sit and play are games that either I grew up with or grew to like. One of these days, I'm going to have to sit down and actually play (at least 5 minutes per) each game I have that I haven't yet played, so that I'm able to relate a bit better when you guys say "this game sucks", "this game is one of the hidden gems", etc.... I've never played Days of Thunder, I've never played King of Kings, and I've never played the preeminently terrible Action 52. But one of these days, I will (or at least try), even if I'm laid up in a hospital bed one day, I'll have my parents bring me my NES and a few random games (and a good one or two, in case I get bored) .

Yeah, the thing is, I can live with crappy play control, a degree of monotony, or terrible music, etc... the problem is that Days of Thunder doesn't have *anything* that interests me or makes me think, "well at least there's that."  Take Athena as an example: it sucks balls, but at the very least I can get a modicum of enjoyment from looking at the zany enemies and background graphics.  Athena, therefore offers me SOMETHING, while DoT offers me NOTHING!  To each his own, though; I think I'm the only guy on the planet who truthfully enjoys playing Cheetahmen II, so I do know where Ruudos is coming from.

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

Nope. It will auto send it out to every member on the site on the first of each month. It will also have a link on the home page as well in case you don't happen to get the email.

The ezine itself isn't sent to your email, just the link to it. Sometimes the ezines are pretty large in file size, and that would sort of clog our mail server sending it out to 500+ members. Just click on the magazine cover on the home page to download the latest volume.

Here begins the discussion of the March issue.

Sorry about the off-center scores on the last page. Dumb mistake.

Oh well, that's my one for the issue. So far.

I'm surprised in spite of this one's extreme difficulties, there wound up being a lot of good content in it.

I have one about half way done but couldn't find the time to sit down and finish it. Been a pretty busy/crappy 2-3 weeks for me. I won't get to read it for a few hours though
