is this a later release of the game? i initially thought maybe this was the gray version release, but he had a gold cartridge in there. maybe is it the pal version??

yep, it's PAL

It looks like an early release due to the round seals. Probably the Canadian version, the seal on the right is most likely french and you can see the two different languages on the precautionary warning on the back of the cart and also on the front / back of the box. Not only that, but the youtube user is Canadian. The PAL version would most likely have a single seal and a Bandai logo on the top flap of the box btw.

My -CAN has no cutout. But my copy also has the mattel logo and the seals in reverse spots as compared to the video so could be PAL. The english/french makes me think -CAN but as I understand it they speak french in europe too

The gray cart came in the 'classic series' box, which this is not.

On second look, my copy has oval seals so yep, I'm going to go with standard early -CAN release.
