These are being released for free as a little compensation towards something that happened at the LostLevels forums way back, but I'm on good terms with them regardless.

One hell of a deal if you ask me, since most protos on ebay are generally more than that.
A thousand thanks, my friend!

Thanks for these! FWIW, Gain Ground is bit-identical to the retail release.

EDIT: Same with Arrow Flash.

in fact they matched two (alt) dumps of the retail releases, which have not been confirmed by the recent redumps by ElBarto and sunbeam, who always found the other versions in commercial carts.
hence, there is a chance that the protos were already dumped but not IDed as protos.

in any case, the Rocket Knight proto is awesome, so many thanks for the release!!!!

Oops, my mistake -- I assumed the GoodGen dumps of Arrow Flash and Gain Ground were known good. Thanks for the (possible) correction. How many hex values are different between the redumps and the originals?

A quick run down shows the Sega Genesis prototypes are labeled:

SEGA GENESIS    (C)T-95 1993.AUGROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES                        ROCKET KNIGHT ADVENTURES
SEGA MEGA DRIVE (C)SEGA 1990.DECGAIN GROUND                                     GAIN GROUND
SEGA MEGA DRIVE (C)SEGA 1990.JULARROW FLASH                                     ARROW FLASH

Actual release dates were:
Rocket Knight - August 5, 1993
Gain Ground - July 29, 1992
Arrow Flash - 1990 (I can't find the month it was released - does anyone know this?)

The Sega Genesis prototypes all show having possible differences.

Super Battletank 2 is byte for byte indentical to the final version.

Arrow Flash was probably released in December, as it was released December 20 1990 in Japan and in 1991 everywhere else. I thought Japan usually had the first, or simultaneous release, right?

That is totally possible. Those dates I listed come directly from each game's code. Whether they are accurate really was up the the programmer who put them there!

I believe I own the Rocket Knight cart now. I dumped it, as well, just in case.
