This can be see as a good thing or a bad thing depending on your perspective.
I've heard from quite a few people that retro game prices are either declining or stagnant. This could be from quite a few reasons from people getting out of gaming to the whole "geek culture" finally dying off. People have lost interest and decided to move on. Most people that have played Nintendo, SNES, Genesis and now in their 30s or above. Getting families, houses, cars....BILLS lol. Priorities change or just people have finally just lost interest in geek culture. Marvel has largely come to an end as has Big Bang Theory. I, personally, had to take a break to work on my career/space. I ended up just boxing all the ones I don't have time for. I plan on rebuying it all later though. I also heard from a friend that still does Comiccon's attendence has been down the last 2 years quite drastically.
I had a turning point where I was done locally with buying/selling or really local stores in general. I shopped local for years before the big explosion in prices. I ended up getting screwed over by each local store from broken consoles to scratched discs. It's hard to stay involved and support a hobby that brings you nothing but grief. I was taking games back every other trip for not working/scratched. When I tried a different store...I got banished buying a "working genesis" only to find it didn't work and this was what I found out to why:
I pretty much buy online or come here. The one time I did buy games here the person was super friendly and the games were in perfect shape/as described. It would be sad for this place to die off.
