It's not that I'm joining in on the first edition/print run craze, but I've always been interested in getting my CIB's 100% complete with all inserts and right now I'm looking at 3 titles, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda ALTTP, and Super Metroid. I don't know much about revisions, variants and the like. I'm a simple collector who always considered 'CIB' to mean cart, instructions, box, not 100% complete. Can anyone shed some light on what all these box codes mean and help me understand what I've really got here? Any help would be appreciated! Also, does anyone have complete contents lists for these 3 titles handy?

What does the '4' mean on the box tabs? The cart matches the box and manual, what else needs to match? Does this make this a first print?

I don't know much about SNES collecting, but a lot of this info is probably already somewhere in the forums. I find the forum search function to be a bit weak when you don't know exactly how to word something, so I usually just google "nintendoage etc." That will probably get you what you need. Good luck.

Still confused on the '4' on the tab, but I did find a thread that has a sheet of complete SNES box contents...

The 4 is just the production number IIRC. The -1 on the Super Mario World box means it's a revision. Sometimes you'll also see a * which means it's the final revision.

So there is more than one printing of the very-short-lived non-Player's Choice SMW box? A Non-Player's-Choice SMW box is a very big deal on it's own since there were only a few months between having to buy an entire SNES system to get SMW and the Player's Choice release.

Nice. Thanks for sharing the link. I’ll be sure to bookmark in preparation for my eventual transition into serious SNES collecting.

Yes.  My copy does not have the -1.
