Thanks guys. This was actually my best run ever on the NES version of Burger Time. I used to play it all the time on the Intellivision when I was a kid and I could loop that game easily. Although, the level design on the NES version is different than the Intellivision version and the NES one is also A LOT harder.

@Luigi_Master: The trick to getting a high score is to drop enemies in the burger pieces. The more enemies you drop in a piece, the more points you get. You can replenish your pepper spray in each level. Every so often, an ice cream cone, coffee cup, or packet of french fries will appear on the screen for a few seconds. If you collect it, you will add one more pepper spray to your stock and also collect 500 points.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

That is a pretty good score. Been to busy at work this week to practice any. This game is hard as heck.

The NES game is even harder than the arcade, or so I've heard anyway.

It is somewhat harder. The first two stages of the arcade version have only 4 enemies. In the NES version, they each have 6 enemies. Other than that though, the arcade and NES versions are almost identical.

Similar strategies work in both versions. Try to group all of the enemies together so you can make them all fall down on the same burger piece. MASSIVE points are available in every stage if you do this, hence the reason why the arcade record for Burger Time is over 11 million points!

I hated this game when I first started playing it on Tuesday. I didn't know what to do or what the hell was going on in this game. Now that I understand it a lot better I like it. Burger Time is an addictive game.

74,950.  Was up to 1am.  Now that I really think about it, was the lack of sleep really worth it? meh.  Don't know if I'll try an other run this weekend, my sanity is kinda thin at the moment.  I'm sure I'm going to have burgertime nightmares.

Is the arcade version as touchy with the ladders?  I had this on Apple II when I was little, and you could hold down left and up at the same time in order to go up the first ladder to your left.  On the NES, you come to a screeching halt if you push up or down without being exactly in front of a ladder.

Yup, the arcade version is really annoying about ladders too.

Fortunately, you don't normally have to move very fast in this game (at least not if you're able to group the enemies into one).

Probably not going to play this one, played it on emulator for less than 2 minutes, not even enough to game over, and decided before it pissed me off to turn it off and pass on playing it. Not important enough to me to get a 1 point participation, not for this crap. Not sure completely why I hate this game so much, but one of them for certain is the ladders, getting off of ladders requires too much precision.

Yes!  Just proved that it can be done.  This sucker is beatable!

Note: The scoreboard rolls over at a million.  I only played to this score because it's the highest possible score for a pic.

I did this in 12 levels, but if you're perfect, it's possible to get a million in just 7 stages.  8,000 points per burger piece really adds up!

Wow. Incredible score. I'd love to see a video of your run so I could learn some strategies. I always use up my lives on the 3rd level.

It seems that way. I guess it's too far fetched to accept the possibility that some people are actually that good at these games.

He does have around 70 records already, and usually when you are good at one game, you learn tricks that make you good at other games. Don't be ashamed of your score, because Tom is so damn good. Tom is just a monster, LOL

Congrats Tom! I think the previous high was somewhere around 600k right, a game by Eric Cummings though I don't think it's in the TG database?

No, I was just hypothetically asking. There's probably a thin chance your average Joe could even get that high, even with increased movement, walking anywhere you want, unlimited pepper, etc.

Yeah, I took it more as a rehtorical question than anything else.  And not an accusation.

I bet with a Game Genie, your average Joe wouldn't get very far.  It's more about knowledge than anything else.  In alot of cases, less skill, and more knowledge that gets you further.  Tom is anything but your average Joe for sure!

Haha I was just joking around but I am still amazed he was able to get that high. He is a champion for sure.

I am starting to learn the tricks to getting 8000 point drops but I am lacking in skill. It seems to me that the key is to get a drop early so the enemies are all clustered at respawn so you can keep repeating the method over and over.

And Luigi_Master, I don't exactly know what you meant by the Game Genie comment but you might want to watch it, I don't want you to get banned from the competition or anything.

Hey everyone, It's not Tom's score (which by the way congrats, that score is fantastic) but a huge personal best for me at 78,000! , destroying my old personal best. before last week my best was 29,000, but i got multiple 60,000 and a bunch of 50,000 and even got to level 8 so i was pretty happy.
