I was about to head out and buy the Beatles Rockband for the Wii and thought I better do a little research on it first before I left the house. After reading some reviews it seems the instruments that come in the Beatles pack aren't really worth the premium price they attach to them, and they aren't necessarily as good as some others around.

So a question for Rockband / Guitar Hero afficionados, what is the compatibility like between instruments made for both series on the Wii, which are better etc?

Well heres my thing
i use the xbox 360 verison
I got the ion drum set, which is the 300 dollar drum set, its the shit i love it it never breaks or gets brokened for anything
any for the wii,,, i would think is that you should go buy a beatles rock band drum set and put good will mod on them,, its the shit as well and are just as good as the ions just i didnt have a stock set to put em on,, as for pedals, i tried out the destoryer pedal and i didnt like it, so i sold it and im using the stock pedal that came with the rock band 2 set but i just bought the pedal at rock band,
I would say buy the beatles drums,, which are the same as the rock band 2 drums just a little bit dif. and buy the goodwoods, heres the link there amazing, ive used em before

Well, looks like Rockband 2 wasn't released here in Aus, so to get that drumkit I'll need to buy the Beatles full set. Shame the retail pricing is up around $370!

Yeah, I was checking them out while I was in the US, around $170 USD there? $370 AUD is roughly equivalent to $300 USD, so we're nearly paying twice the price (big shipping costs I guess)

Zzap, give me a call if you still have questions.

I just helped bongoben with this same thing.

The compatibility breaks down like this:

Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar works with Rock Band 2 and Beatles Rock Band.  This has a slot for the Wiimote to go into.

Rock Band guitar comes with a USB adapter.  This only works with Rock Band games.

Rock Band drum sets only work with Rock Band games.  Guitar Hero World Tour drum sets work with everything, but it's a little strange playing Rock Band with it because you use one of the cymbals as a tom, and it's just not natural.  Plus the Rock Band games are 500% better than the Guitar Hero games, so just go with RB stuff and you'll be fine.

There's no point in buying an ION set if you're only going to play casually.  Unless you're worried about getting 100% on every song, it's pretty pointless.  The one that comes with the games is fine.  It will miss a note every now and then, but if you're just playing to have a good time, it's not a deal breaker.

I personally am going to get the George Harrison guitar as my second guitar just because of how it looks.  I've used the Rock Band guitars and the Guitar Hero World Tour guitars and personally I don't really have a favorite.  As long as they're full size, they work fine.  The smaller guitars get a little annoying (especially the Guitar Hero 2 White guitar.  The bodyshape is weird and it digs into your side.)

Okay, I'm done with this long rant.  Hopefully you have my new number if you have any questions.
