I am looking to purchase this very nice copy of DK Jr. Math from a friend of mine and am looking for an estimated value based on it's condition. The outside of the box is pictured below. I saw it in person and it looks a little better than it does in the pics.  The cart and manual are minty.

Yes it is tape on the bottom. It's not holding any tears or anything, someone just wrapped it around it. From my professional opinion I think it can be removed without damaging the box. I recondition everything that comes through my shop and it looks like it is definitley workable.

I would however still be scared to remove it.

Id say that tape impacts it big time if you are considering it mint. you pay 2k and then damage it taking off the tape and your in a bad spot. I would pay what it is worth with the tape and not assume it will come off clean. As you know black box games scuff easily and that shit might peel right off. Still a very nice copy and super awesome, wish i had one.

I would never touch it. Like I said, I would be way to scared to damage it.

I am getting rid of a significant portion of my super nintendo collection to fund this baby no way I'm gonna screw it up!

I would think the tape would lower the value, 2k seems a bit much

Hopefully Erik chimes in

I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable as some of the big guns on here but my initial estimate was somewhere in the $1,200 - 1,500 mark.

I posted it because I want to make sure I'm making him a fair offer. He's got a baby on the way!

I would really not mess with that tape. Otherwise she's gorgeous, I would imagine that your $1500 estimate is pretty accurate.

Good luck

I think $1250 would be a fair cash offer between friends.

You might get lucky over time and have the adhesive dry up in the next 20 years or so.   Problem solved!

Above $1k with Tape?!?! That blows my mind. If that's true then truly Mint CIB is probably $3k+.

My first thought was $600-$800 maybe.

The hangtab is punched too.  I consider this Good / Very Good.  Not Excellent or better.

Man I am glad there is one other person thinking what I'm thinking because with that tape I'd say 500 bucks.

OP:   save your money for a better copy IMO.

Yeah I thought I was overestimating at $600-$800 to be honest as well, but BreakBeatz did pay $600 for that beat copy.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....

But he hopped on it like it was Good BIN, I think it would have sat for awhile. It was a relist of a $330 reserve not met (which seems more reasonable, I would have guessed about $350-$400 on it).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-N...

I'd rather wait for a nice copy than overpay for a beat one anyday.

Also, if you were serious about it, I'd want to see more picks of the back hinge. I'm thinking this has been touched up with black marker as well.

Especially pic 5. When you have whitened corners like that you'd expect a whitened edge between them. It looks like that might be a touch up right there.

If it is touched up, back to maybe $350 as a placeholder. And to be honest, I wouldn't even want it for that price myself.

Sub $1K for sure in that condition. I would think somewhere closer to $800 or so.

So what would be a reasonable offer to make him for this condition?

Color looks a bit muted to me. Is it sun faded a bit? No idea on the value though.

I'm on board with a sub $1000 price tag as well. I wouldnt be able to get over the tape...it covers too much of the box.

Good call.    Its been touched up, I'm almost positive.   You can see the changes in the tone of the black here in red.   I suspect that area "used" to be white before the marker.

Call it 400 bucks tops.

How many of these does Erik own again? Can't believe a game in this condition could fetch crazy numbers.
