It would have been nice if you guys sent me a PM about it sooner, that way I could have gotten another score in (I get notifications via email that way).

You're 100% right about this. The problem is that we find out the problem with your picture only on Sunday. We should have seen this earlier, it's our errors, it happens you know.

I don't see much basis for disqualifying the score, though. You get extra lives for points, and there are extra life icons littered throughout the game, which you can choose to pick up or not. How would you be able to tell whether I used a life or not? You wouldn't, unless you made a chart of how many extra life opportunities there are and also required the player to either skip or pick up all of the 1up icons within the game.

We would at the least confirm the score matching with extra lives earned through points. It's the minimal verification we can do. Not using extra lives earned through 1up icons is unverifiable, so it's a 'honor rule' affair. Screw anybody that profits from this.
Showing the lives count when playing with the 1-life rule is helping everyone to accept the validity of a score based on some sort of common sense. Hiding a lives count ( I'm not saying you were hiding it, you only forgot about it, it's different) is suspicious, and we must ask to include this information on the picture in a 1-life rule contest.

Another thing is that as long as you're not camping and taking advantage of how the enemies reappear endlessly, if you pick up a majority of the items in each level and destroy nearly every enemy you see, there's not much room for fluctuation in scoring.

Since this game has timers, farming point is allowed and considered as a valid strategy to boost a score. In most cases, good farming techniques need skills to max out points or simply not dying through the process. Same thing goes for not running out of time while profiting it to the maximum.

Hey, I was looking through my SD card from my camera and it looks like I actually did take a full-screen photo. I didn't upload it because everything came out blurred.

I think your good for a revision. Thanks for sharing this full screen picture. It pretty much proves that your score was legit.
I'll shoot a pm to Nesruler and Bimmy about this.

You can compare my score to someone else who died just a few screens away from where I did (E-Man), and they are pretty similar. Not to mention the timer on my screen is nearly full, which wouldn't have given me much opportunity to score anything extra either, heh.

Anyways, I understand it's your decision though, not mine. I wouldn't mind re-playing it though up to the same point just to get a full-screen shot, if that's an option. Hell, I could do it on video for all I care.

Buttheadrules got a good point, but the problem is that we, at the least, need to see score-lives left combination that sounds plausible to accept the score. The missing information is killing him in the end, even if he probably made this score the legit way. I guess that's a lesson for everybody. 1-life rule commands it. ]]>

I'm sorry to say, Austin, but after discussing it with nesruler22, we cannot accept your score for this contest. Your picture did not display your remaining lives, and with this being a 1 life only contest, we could not verify that your score was done with one life. For further 1 life only contests, please make sure your picture includes your remaining lives. This goes for everyone as well.

I think there's no reliable way to verify such thing anyways... For instance, my pic says I have 8 lives... Either I lost 1 life before and earned it later (and lost it again before the pic), or did it with only 1 life (I really did it with 1). Just saying, for your re-consideration of Austin's score.

Yeah, I understand what you mean.  I hated to do it, but nesruler22 had the final say in the matter.
