Surprised more people haven't participated. I guess the difficulty drove away a lot of folks. :/

It looks like there were 25 players at the end, so that's not too bad. Battletoads is extremely frustrating/difficult and relies a lot on being able to memorize the levels, so it takes a lot of practice for anyone that isn't already familiar with the game going in.

Doug summed it up well here. In all the years we have been playing Battletoads, participation is usually a little lower than normal due to the difficulty of the game.

Yeah, I've beaten the game before and I just didn't have the time to put into it this past week. It's a really tough game, but it's worth revisiting for anyone that wants to take a shot at beating it. ]]>

can someone explain the battletoad prank call phenomenon and where it came from??
Heres what I know quite a few year ago, when I was working at GameStop... Basically that. I heard Anonymous started it. And the original idea was to call the store in Pawn Stars.

I don't why but at the end of level 3 where it gets really fast, during the set of stones with the wrap, I ALWAYS hit the last block. Does anyone else have this problem?? Makes me so mad because I am right there at the end. I have extra lifes and I just loose them all right there and never pass it. Had to vent before I did something stupid to my system and/or controller.

The rhythm of the sounds of the blocks whooshing past you is the same as the rhythm you need to tap up and down. Which is quick but not unreasonable. Make sure you don't go ALL the way to the top or bottom just up and down far enough (from the center) to get past each block. If you can regularly make it to the last block you can beat this for sure.

Thanks for tip. I think it helped me beat it. As I mentioned above to gutsman004, I was able to do it once and no luck since, I guess can't figure for the life on me why its always the last block. I am not giving up in this game yet.

It took me hundreds of plays before I was able to master it. I still die at leaste once everytime I get to that point. You can do it. Btw a new best for me. Made it to level 7 in less then a half hour YAY

Congrats!!! Do you die at the race or at the last block?

Most of the time I hit the last block but then others I will miss one of the many platforms at the end & fall to my doom ]]>

Heres what I know quite a few year ago, when I was working at GameStop (before they completely sucked) between I want to say 2005 and 2008 stores started receiving calls from customers want to preorder Battletoads for a current generation system. Upper boss people said be nice explain there is no such title to preorder ect. All the calls we got were from young kids trying to be funny. I remember it spreading on the internet, everyone needs to do it. If I recall correctly I was told it had to do with the show "Pawn Stars". But I didn't really give a damn, I had more importanting gaming to do, then to worry about what young kids do for pranks. I could be completely wrong, anyone feel free to correct me. But I hope that helps a little. ]]>

I would have liked to give it a try, but didn't have a chance to play. I'm not terribly familiar with it though, so I'd probably only get a participation point anyway. I've beaten stage 3 on the Genesis version, but I've heard some people say that it's tougher on NES. ]]>
