It's not the largest, Metal Slader Glory is the largest.  

Lagrange Point's claim to fame is that it can do FM synthesis sound using Konami's custom chip the VR7.  It was the only game to ever use this expansion chip.

It's not supposed to be that great of a game, and most of its appeal is in its technical prowess.
