So I'm working on a project with Final Fantasy II (NES) that will expand some things and I've hit a little roadblock. Using Jade, the pointers get messed up if any text is editing so I'm doing this and straight with HEX. I used YY-CHR to edit some of the letters into squished tiles to make them DTE with spell and item names.
The problem I have run into is the the tiles that are labeld for HP and MP. In most of the game you can edit them out and use the standard H, M, and P respectively. What happens in battle though, is my squished tiles fall victim to the games routine for loading the battle screen. What I need help is finding out WHERE in the ROM they are being called for and where I can change them. As far I can tell the default letters for HP and MP are H=C7, M=C8, and P=C9. If I can change them to H=91, M=96, and P=99 I would be golden. Anyone who can, please help.
