i am confused about the flags on the triangle linear counter. blarggs doc http://nesdev.com/apu_ref.txt says "the control flag is also mapped to a flag in the Length Counter." and the wiki says the same thing, "Control flag (this bit is also the length counter halt flag)". then the docs say "If control flag is clear, clear halt flag." if the flags are the same, that statement is pointless ? i was thinking i could be confused with r4015 bit 2 (7..0) but that only disables the length counter ?
the problem is noticable during the zelda intro theme, the triangle starts and is on for the first ~11.2 seconds, then is silent till it restarts the theme. if i comment out the linear counter check ( non-zero) , then its on the whole time.
could anyone clearify the flags or suggest what might be wrong with zelda ? i have re read the docs and searched the forums, and tried to break it ( commenting out the non-zero linear counter )
i was about to start tracing a log file, but i think i have the flags wrong.
